I've always been a fan of the Miata. When I was younger I always wanted one and one day I will. Its a great car, great handling and with some work some nice hp can me had with that car, great power to weight ratio also. I wish there were more Miatas in the upper divisions (D1 and Formula D) competing and doing well.
well they are rather hard vehicles to drift. the short wheelbase makes them spinout friendly and the lack of power doesnt help...on another forum i talk in there are a few guys who compete in formula D and they are some awesome drivers, got crazy skills, kinda inspire me to get better and better at something i love with a car i love. soon i will make some good hp and will see what happens then ;)

Yeah thats good point but it just takes one great driver and the proper setup car to change histroy. I would have never thought a carburetored 86 could go toe to toe in D1 and almost win an event. But Hibino came and got 2nd place in his debut and many thought he should've won. Keep in mind he went up against Nomuken's Skyline in the Finals with a 130ps 86, just amazing. After seeing that anything is possible.

I feel that the Miata can be competetive in drifting, with the proper power output, suspension tuning, overall setup and of course great driver I can see a Miata go up against anyone. Just remember everything you said that described the Miata applies to the 86 and look at them now. That should motivate all the Miata drivers out there, well you got me rooting for you guys.
