There must be more to drifting than I thought...

hmmm, Well...i have been into drifting sense it started...i have only been seriously involved this past year and a half now. I like to see myself as an experienced driver with different levels of driving to include drifting. As we all know...drifting varies from vehicle to vehicle because you have to learn the limits of both you and the vehicle your in to become successful. anyway....i have one almost completed car, and a second car on the way...i work full time, and i support a family... it's just all about budgeting money and time. dedication goes a long way in no mater what you do...from basket weaving to racing....time is the key!

Those who want it...will have it, when the time arises for each person. bascially we all have our moments in fame and start them at different times. JUST STAY WITH IT...

Justin / go ter tech!!!

the way I see it this is going to be a passion to me like it most likely is to everyone else. I know I wont be a pro at it, but im happy for the few that do make it. Ill be behind the sport always and no matter what!

Amen, bro.

i turned 18 and bought my first car, an 05 f150. sliding that thing around corners and uturns after it rained was some of the most fun i ever had, then my freind showed me some drift vids, and here i am a few months later with an s13 hatch, keepin it real =P

would love to get to a professional level but i highly doubt it, i would be happy with just competing in some events and not doing horrible. :)

i slide to slide. Ill never compete and ill never enter formula d. I slide cause its fun and to get better. Thats why i dont slide any comps and i wont in the future.

I slide to get better and to one day be able to compete with the best, That is my goal and to still keep it fun.

hey guys, its good to come on here after a while and see this topic. Its good to hear wat ppl want.

At this point im happy just entering events when possible. The better the track the more fun ofcourse. And ive realized that i wont become a pro. There's just something different between a person thats a good driver, and a real pro IMO. It would be fresh if i couldve become a pro, like my uncle that raced for ferrari, and he wife was his navigator/copilot. I give props to everyone that has the ambition, and natural talent to get where they wanna go.

The day fast and furious 3 comes out with its riced out drifting stylez is going to kill us all

There will be people coming on this site thinking that since they saw it in a movie they can do it. The best thing about drifting is that unlike most sports you do not have an inate tallent to drift. It has to be learned.

this is maybe the best forum post ive ever read. some deep serious ****. I drift because driving is the only thing im good at.. i'm at one with a car. ive always wanted to road race all my life but all i can afford to do was local autocrosses. i understand lines that the average person can't see in a road. it takes the pain away while you are pushing so hard there inst a millisecond you can wonder about your stresses. it's 10/10ths no matter what car you are driving its pushing the car to its absolute limits.. i miss the midatlantic area i didnt realize how spoiled i was with awesome roads that some of you guys might not ever get to experience.

I'm glad you guys feel that way, but I suppose thats why this thread is so great -- everyone who's posted is a true unbiased enthusiast. I had no idea it'd get as many responses as it would, but hey, I'm definitely not complaining. It's evident that there are a lot of purists here, and I hope this post also kinda opens everyones' minds as to how open-minded and true to the scene that we really are. :)

I am a total noob, but I just do it for the love of the sport, I think that going pro would put too much pressure on you from the sponser. and we all know that when you start to feel pressured into doing something, you are missing the whole point of such a fun sport

Amen. I feel the best way to defend yourself against that threat of noobism is to reinforce that idiot filter and set yourself apart by expanding your knowledge and experience.
--It'll be killing two birds with one stone in my book, if you keep at it and do it for the right reason(s), you'll also perhaps instill that on the little fanboys and perhaps convert them to conventional enthusiasts, rather than naive bandwagoners. I have to admit, it worked on me. ...I was a lot younger and I knew far less about cars than I knew now, but I thought chrome wheels were phat and matching neon trim was cool. Then I started hanging out with my cousin in Orlando (and his 400 whp SR20 s14, woot), and I started loving cars for what they (can) do. That's why I kept the car that was given to me, because I know of it's hidden potential, and I love it for what it is and what it will do for me (once I start making progress, that is).
But anyway, I'm sure if it worked for me, it could work on the bandwagoners too if we're humble about it.
