The Troubleshooting thread... :(

Kenrik

Driver
Everything is together and set... I cranked the engine over a few times with the fuel pump fuse out and the CAS unpluged untill the oil pump primed.

I turn the key and let the fuel pump prime... I turn the key and it just cranks... :(

Ignitor is hooked up and I'm pretty sure I conected everything up right.. WTF :(

AHHHH I WANT BOOST :(

Did you check for spark/fuel?

Well.. I can hear the Walbro in the trunk when I turn the key and I just filled the tank with 5gal of gas sooo... it should have fuel.

Spark.. no I did not check after I tried to start it I did not do any troubleshooting I just came in and posted this..

it seems like some importaint plug must not be hooked up? I mean it does not even try to start.

Got fuel... I checked

Tried a different ignitor.. Nope

Tried a different ECU... Nope

It might be the plugs I did not change them since I got the engine.. I tried but the parts store did not have any instock. So that will be the next thing on my list.. :(

And god dam I hope it's not timeing I hate messing with that shit....

pull the plugs, are they covered in fuel??

Are you getting spark?

Will it run on carb cleaner.

Make sure all the connectors are pluged in well ?

Dose it sound like its trying to fire correctly.

Did you take apart the CAS?

I'll check the plugs

IDK if I have spark

I checked the conections

It's not trying to fire at all...

No I did not take apart the CAS... I have never worked on a car that had a CAS before.

Check for spark dummy.

Dose the ignitor ground thought the chasis or the wiring harness? If to the chasis, sand back the paint and try again.

btw, I wouldnt put it past the injectors being airbound. (if you have spark). I had to crank my car for 5mins constantly after I installed the different injectors.

Try starting it on starting fluid if you have spark. (put through IACV) (some carburator cleaners are not flammable.)

it has HKS plugs... they look new not fouled at all, and they are wet with fuel. it's a PITA to check for spark with only one person but I'll see what I can do.

well those are considered wet fouled, not oil\carbon fouled.

burn em with a small flame (oxy asytline will melt the shit out of them, small propane torch is okay) or a lighter. then take a wire brush and clean off any soot.

See if you have spark.

If you have spark, pull the fp fuse and crank it for a little bit to dry everything out, then put fuse back in place and try again.

walbro in there with an aftermarket fpr and fp gauge? if not then you have just increased your base pressure from 43.5 to 60.

^ no FPR.. I know I should have gotten one :\

No Spark! I checked the coilpack plug and it's conected nice and tight like.. :(

what dose the ignitor pinout look like? is there a ground going to the wiring harness? dose it ground through the chasis? are there metal contacts where it is bolted down?

who did your wiring. do a continuity test on every connection. did you solder, crimp?

http://www.frsport.com/sr20det-swap-engine-harness-wiring-guide-sr20-p-665.html

I followed this guide exactly.

I sodered the conections on the harness and crimped one ones to the interior dash crap.

Hmm... the Ignitor chip has no ground on it, but the back is made out of metal... it's not touching any metal part of the chassis is it supposed to be grounded?

I have all my grounds that are on the harness hookeded upto the egnine and also hooked upto a grounding kit.

If i were in your situation and i knew that certain coil devices are self grounding, I would go outside right now, sand the paint off the chasis and remount the ignitor. What do you have to loose? scratch your "clean" install?

I know some coils are self grounding through the mounting device. I do not know for certain that this particular ignitor is supposed to be grounded. But I would try it for shits and giggles.

my ignitor wasnt grounded....just....chillin there.....i think its the wiring for the chasis plug

okay well the problem is probably isnt something stupid that I can think of right now.

I know a few people that are little bitches with their starters, thinking they are going to crap out if they are held cranking the engine for more then 10 seconds. (you know you dont have spark so dont crank it for no apparent reason)

I dont think the increased fuel pressure issue will keep the engine from starting.
