Temp Gauge

Well now that I'm thinking clearly I would start with testing the electrical circuit and maybe also picking up a pyrometer (awesome tool, or just use a thermometer: won't be as accurate). First I would drive the car get it to operating temperature and check the temp. around where you bleed it from. Now drive the car on the highway until it over heats, pull over and check the temp. again. It should change by my guess 10-30 degrees (not sure, but my car runs around 180-190 when the temp is checked, but the gauge reads just past halfway?). Any way if the temperature hasn't changed alot something in the circuit is bad.
