Teflon and Oil

im not totaly sure what happens when you put teflon on oil but would this be ok? i just bought an remote oil filter/cooler and want to make sure its ok. thanks

my oil filter sandwich plate leaked from one of the connectors for my oil pressure gauge till i used teflon tape, and now it works fine, so i guess its okay.

should be fine. Just make sure it stays on the threads and doesn't get into the stream of oil and clog something.

BECARFUL, the dumbass who i bought my t28 put that on the oil line and im assuming he did not make sure it was only on the threads and it ended up clogging the line and it starved the turbo of oil killing the turbo. I pulled a chuck of teflon tape out of the line.

teflon tape should only be used on strait and pipe (tapered) threads. Teflon tape should not be used on flared fittings which have that conical seat to seal the connection (AN).

yeah its going on a tapered ended thread... its already done so if there is a problem then i will know it soon haha.

There shouldnt be a prob as long as its just on the threads and that there wasnt too much on there to prevent the tappered fitting to seat properly. Future note teflon is pretty much good with all auto liquids. but you can alwaystake a piece and put it in a cup of the liquid you are sealing up to see if it disolves. I work in a plumbing warehouse and deal with it all day... youd be amazed to see what these guys use it to seal LOL.

i used to be a plumber.. you work at a supply house huh... cool. i wish i worked at a auto parts store or something. i always like to make crap. but yea teflon is amazing at where it can be used. haha
