"tandom" Drifting rules

A question for our new rule book on RC drifting

-in a tandom, what do judges look for as a chase car, how can the chase car win over the lead car in a tandem???

-do 1/1 drifting judge by a advantage system, what is the advantage system??

Why is nobody answering his question??

I'll just copy paste some random descriptions. there is a difference in the scale of the track to the car and its alot easier to pass and repass and be off the line with an RC car. I've never drifted an RC car but i've seen plenty of videos and its not very similar to real drifting so the rules would have to be adjusted. It would probably be a shit load easier to judge if the tracks were more to scale cause you would have alot more people going off the track. But the scale speeds are ridiculous to the point that it's like having every turn a 100+ mph entry.

1.In tandem runs, each driver of the pair is given a turn at being the lead vehicle. The chase driver must then prove to the judges that he or she is better able to drift by getting as close to the lead driver or better yet passing the lead car in a turn. Conversely, if the lead driver can pull away from the chase driver, he or she can score additional points.

2.When a driver spins out on a tandem run, he or she loses that run. In case of contact, the driver causing the contact is ruled to have lost the run (usually the chase driver).

3. Numerical scores aren't as important as judges can simply award a winner based on comparative judgments.

because real tandem rules are non-existent. you vote for who you like more. who has better parts on their car. and who which one has better paint job. dont you know anything Josh? I expected a lot more from someone who moved to driftland ?!?!

oh if we are going with the REAL RULES.

1.its what judges you are friends with
2.ride height
3.size of intercooler
4.Flushness aka wheel fitment
5.JDMness
6.how many post you have on the forums
7.members of Ziptied get instant advantages
8.Emo pants and tattoo's help style points
9.using you ebrake for 100mph entries loses points but 50mph clutchkicks gain points
10.blow off sounds cooler
11.allready being sponsored means you are better then nonsponsored people so they shouldn't be allowed to even attend a qualifier or perfect lines should just be ignored.

I hope thats better Dan

You forgot one.

-The winner is always the drivers whose sponsor dumps the most money into a series and/or event.

I dont know about the passing, that sorta is frowned upon in a lot of places. But the basics are the chase car has to at least copy the lead cars line, maintain speed and angle as well. You can achieve a better score of course if chase car takes a better line, has better angle

THANK YOU!!

Only in insecure America did passing become a goal of drifting

"I passed him because he was way off line" = BULLSHIT

Tandem summed up-

Leading- Go all out and try to get away.

Following- Do what the guy in front is doing, and show you're better by anticipating their moves and pushing in close to them/getting better angle, etc.

thank for answering my question. passing is somthing we been talk about for the longest time in drifting. you can prove to have better skill if you can follow someone else line rather than your own, pass only work in a "window of opportunity."
