Ok so i stripped the thread in the hole on the subframe for my S14s rear sway bar bracket...the stripped bolt fell right out today when i was removing the bracket to re-grease the polyurethane bushing...what can i do besides change out the entire rear subframe (which i really dont want to do) any suggestions guys? thanks

rethread it or is the bolt stuck in there?

nah thankfully the bolt came out, it was totally rounded and smooth lol. How do i rethread it? and if i re thread it do i have to use a bigger size bolt? i found a same sized bolt that i kinda tried to thread back in, and its holding it now but im sure it will start to slide out.

Well since u said the hole is completly stripped u won't beable to just tap it again. U will have to get a thread insert.

What u will have todo is (this comes as a complete kit) drill the hole to the proper size. Tap the hole for the thread insert. Then install the new thread insert. And now ur good togo.

All u need todo is goto a autoparts store with the bolt that goes to that hole and match the threads up with the thread insert kit. Pepboys, autozone, and discount autoparts will have these kits. Limited quanity. Worse case is you will have to findout what the threads are on that bolt and order the kit online. They go for about 20buxs

sweet, thanks for the info dude:bigthumbu

Do you have coilovers? Do you have turbo? Just take the rear sway off. Get that grip.

check and check, i was thinking of leaving it off today especially since the main reason why i was taking it off in the first place was to regrease the polyurethane bushings because i think thats where the annoying as hell creaking sound my car constantly makes comes from. Makes my car sound like a POS when im parking lol its real embarrassing. But since Paul told me what to do im gonna go for it and fix it:bigthumbu

but...can you really catch more grip with it off? i have plenty of traction problems right now actually :D lol

same thing like i sugested above, a tap is only good for a hole that is smaller then the bolt, because with a tap u are cutting the metal to the required sixe/adding threads to the metal. u too will need to get a thread insert kit
