starter problems???

so im finaly finished doing everything on my rb20 swap an i went to start it for the first time an the starter just span an so i had it checked out an the solenoid was bad so i got a new starter brand new out of the box an put it on hooked the wires an stuff up..... when i went to start it it made a clank noise? (when i turnen the key farward it made the noise an when i turned it back it made the same clank. idk after three or four times it just started spinning just like the other starter.... r u suppose to mesh the flywheel ring gear teeth up with the pinion gear teeth or something

what starter did you get a auto or manuel one?

i just gave the ppl a part number for the right one, so it should be a manual one

can you turn the engine over by hand? Is the starter engaging into the flywheel and turning the engine over? Is the battery charged? Maybe hook the battery up to a charger, let it charge for a little and then crank it.

i can turn it over by hand i just dont think the rb25 starter can go on my rb20, im going to try an puch start it lol
