Hey guys this may seem like a stupid questio but how does the starter work. Before you guys chew my ass off, I'm trying to see if it's my flywheel that's bad or an electrical problem. I just put in a new starter and sometimes when you turn it on, you hear the car starting to turn on then all of a sudden you hear the starter motor spinning. And this happens for a little while. Would it be that the flywheel be going bad? Thanks

Not to be a dick, but it's not to clear what you're trying to ask.

What EXACTLY is your problem?
i.e. car not cranking, car not turning over, car turns over but no start, etc.

i'm having starter problems too it's a bitch i don't think your flywheel is bad unless you don't have the flywheel dust shield and you've been getting shit in there.

He explained it pretty well. He starts his car, starts fine but then sounds like the starter is just spinning, correct? Either your flywheel is missing a section of teeth or the starter drive gear is retracting back into the starter prematurely. To test the flywheel, rotate your engine by hand and try starting it. If it starts fine it could be a flywheel issue, if the same thing happens your starter is prolly haggard. FYI, 240's are known to have bad starter problems. My friend and I went through about 6 discount starters before finding good ones.

ok yea it cranks but doesnt fully turn, it sounds like it missed the teeth. But ill give that a try to see if its the starter. (btw 7th starter)lol
