sr20det or rb25det

Hey everyone. I was just curious; I have an s14 stock base model. I don’t plan on doing any mods on the engine (ka24de) and just do a swap and go from there. Now the question is, and i'm sure that many other people had the same question, SR20DET or RB25DET, I know the basics on the difference but I wanted all your opinions. I want to build around up to 400hp. Which route should I go? I plan on doing lots of straight races.
 
wrong forum dude, but ill help you out anyways, SR will be cheaper, thats the only difference in the two in straight line racing...
 
If you can afford the RB, go for it, but if I may be blunt, it seems like you dont have the slightest idea of what you are getting yourself into.

google and wikipedia are out there for a reason go to wikipedia and search the engines put the info together and make a decision look how easy ill even give you the info
The 2.5 L RB25 engine was produced in three forms:

RB25DE - twin-cam 140 kW/190 PS and 147 kW/200 PS (with VCT) @ 6000 rpm, 255 N·m (26.0 kgf·m) @ 4000 rpm)
RB25DET - twin-cam turbo (245 to 250 hp and 319 N·m)
NEO RB25DET - twin-cam turbo (206 kW (280 PS) @ 6400 rpm, 362 N·m (37.0 kgf·m) @ 3200 rpm)
RB25DE and DET engines produced from August 1993 also featured NVCS (Nissan Variable Cam System) for the intake cam. This gave the new RB25DE more power and torque at lower rpm than the previous model.

In May 1998 a NEO head was fitted, which enabled the engine to be classified as a low emission vehicle engine (LEV). The non-VCT and non-turbo was fitted to the R32 Skyline, the VCT turbo and non-turbo was fitted to R33 Skylines and Stageas. R34 Skylines also use these engines, but they are fitted with a NEO head.

The SR20DET is a turbocharged and intercooled version of the SR20DE, initially producing 205 PS (150 kW) in the S13 Nissan Silvia and 180SX. The second generation in the S14 Silvia produced 225 PS (166 kW) through the use of Nissan's VTC variable valve timing and a ball bearing turbocharger. The final S15 Silvia version produced 250 PS (183 kW) @6400 rpm and 275 nm @4800 rpm with an improved Inconel impeller wheel for its turbocharger.

The Nissan Pulsar GTi-R version was developed as a World Rally Championship homologation engine. It received one throttle body per cylinder and a Garrett T28 turbocharger, as well as a large top-mount intercooler.

It was available in the following vehicles:

S13/14/15 Nissan Silvia
S13 Nissan 180SX
S14/S15 Nissan 200SX, 200 PS (146 kW)
N14 Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, 230 PS (169 kW)
Nissan R'nessa GT Turbo
U13 Nissan Bluebird SSS ATTESA LTD 210 PS
U12 Nissan Bluebird SSS ATTESA
Nissan Serena
Nissan Wingroad
Nismo 270R (270 hp @6000 rpm)
Several other Nissan Vehicles that didn't come with a SR20DET from the factory are commonly transplanted with this engine as a performance upgrade:

S13/14 Nissan 240SX
B13 Nissan Sentra
N15 Nissan Pulsar/Almera
 
ok well if it aint a 2.6(no strocking allowed) then sr20det son!!!!!!!! but thats my opinion, others will say rb25 but i guess this is where the battle begins!!!!!!!!
 
I'm curious about opinions as well. From what I have researched out the RB engines aren't just expensive to initially swap... but parts are MUCH more expensive as well.
