SOHC timing chain

some background info on the motor:
complete oem rebuild (including timing chain)

Today i was taking a look at mattu's car and we popped the valve cover to see how much play was in the timing chain, we found there to be a rediculus amount of play, if you were to push the side of the chain with a pencil you could move it atleast half an inch, it was the wierdest thing in the world... this is a BRAND NEW timing chain only a couple of miles. i just wanted to get some input from u guys on why there could be so much damn play if its a brand new chain? im rele lost...

maybe it has a bad tensioner dont know if a sohc has one but it happened to my dohc

it went off one of the teeth? just swap that pos oout for a dual cam.

they need oil pressure to put tension on it

i rele think this is wat it is i dont see a reason for there to be any play at all if its a brand new chain anyway...
