There's a good thread about the swap over on ls1tech.. http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=447175

hinson motorsports makes some pieces to make the swap a lil easier, but are big $$$. Seems the best run for your money would be to grab a r33 crossmember, make your engine mount adaptors, and go from there.

T/A Creations (tacreationsusa.com) is over in Hialeah, and is always good if you small pieces/bolts/etc, but you'd get *** raped $$$ wise if you bought a motor/tranny from them.

Good luck. :bigthumbu

Yes Im going with the Hinson kit. I been in contact with them for a while now. Im just trying to Source a LS1, T-56, Harness and ECU before I seal the deal.

Heh, good thinking...oh and good luck.

PS - let me drift it when you're done. :)

Thanks. I done some research and the swap sounds like the right move. PLUS it will be Uber realiable.

As for teh drive...HA HA HA As long as you find a big open space

i was thinking so long to handling, but its an improvement in wieght loss, so i guess it wont get worse really? or will it?

From what I have read and come to understand the LS1 is 122lbs lighter then the ka24DE motorset. which will improve the weight distribution. Making it closer to 50/50. So as long as teh driver(Me) can handle teh extra power and learn to control it then handling should be spectacular

yeah and if you boost it later watch out it has hyperneutecnic pistons and they do not like boost, we have found that out here at school with our turbo GTO after it went through 2 motors in 3 months put down like 560hp to the wheels though lol on 10psi

rad as hell ..... let me know if ya need a hand wit da swap.... and as far as some work done you'll hear from me son.....

60% increased power melted pistons? Or was it detonation? 10:1 CR?

400hp eh, I dont think I would turbo it. Although im now bias about displacement and a blower, Yesterday I rode in a 910whp blown (11psi) 540CID chevy caprice. 2.10 final drive on a manual valve body 3spd auto, smoked the tires with 4 people in the car from 65mph to 95ish. :) So amazing.

Ya that GTO motor probally detonated. Plus teh LSx motor in teh GTO is not teh LS1 motor I plan on using. There are many differences in the LS series of motor.

As far as boost Ill be going teh Supercharged route. If any of you know "Country Music" you'd know why

There's always 2 ways to do things, the right way, and well, that way.

yeah its pretty hard keeping these cars together as they get no miles on them and CONSTANT dyno runs and people trying all sorts of weird **** to them so alot of times the right way just wasnt availible LOL
