Short Shifter not going into reverse

So last night I installed my short shifter and now my car wont go into reverse, well... it will but after 20 tries and a bunch of grinding and then eventually it pops out again. I changed my tranny fluid to Redline mt-90, the car shifts good on all gears except for reverse and in very few occasions it pops out of second gear.

Always had issues with reverse even with my stock shifter. I've been looking around and the only suggestions I've found is to essentially rebuild it or something like it, pretty much way to much work that I can't do on my own or afford.

any suggestions on what I can do to fix? Other than telling me not to buy cheap shifters from amazon.
I'm trying to work on the "economic" side of things.

Try turning the shifter around n if it still gives you problems then the forks in your tranny are bent or something.
 
No, the shifter u bout was a peice of shit knock off copy. Its not precisly made as say a b&m one. So ur throw is not exact which isnt fully engaging the gear for reverse. They also usual have a problem with going into 5th aswell. I would put back in the stock shifter and invest in a high quality part.
 
that shifter is a fail sir
u cannot put rubber seal around hole in tranny so oil will leak out when u drive it hard
trust me i got a blown sr tranny cause of it
 
poop, i guess there is no way around it, cant be a cheapo

can you recommend a fairly priced good SS? Can't find C's shifter, i only find it to be discontinued , and B&m is up there in price, dont know where I can find a good B&m knock off to trust

yeah just loosen the right side of it a bit i had the same problem until i did that but i went back to the stock shifter mine lost two bolts while driving and fell apart
 
From the reviews ive read about the isis short shifter that enjuku has for around $80 its a pretty smooth shifter, ordering mine tommorow.
 
Love my b&m. But honestly if you don't have the money to buy a real shifter why bother replacing the stock. Not really a part you need I would say put the stock one on and spend the money else where unless of course your stock piece has a problem
