Hello lads,

So I went to go get an aligment and the fat guy said I can't get one because my rack n pinion is "shot". What he showed me was basic: he had the car in the air and shook the wheel showing that their was play in it. He said the inner tie rods were fucked. He said replace the hole dam thing.

But my question: Why replace the entire rack? Why not just the inner tie rods? i'll even change the outer ones while im at it but fuck changing the whole rack. My boy said that as long as im not leaking power steering fluid the rack is fine its just the inner rods.

Input???

Thanks!!!:bigthumbu

Fuck your car. It's destroyed. Last time I went to the shop to get tires mounted, he said the tire had a hole in it and told me to go fuck my self and buy a new wheel and tire.

Then I thought hmm maybe I should just plug it. Get my drift amigo. Fix the tie rod and go back!

yea dude i drove your car today and the power steering seemed fine and smooth. a shot steering rack would mean the seals are bad and its not working right. only thing i noticed was a bit of play in it. just change the inner/outer tie-rods and get energy suspention bushings itll make your steering feel tight

^x2 but i do understand his thinking a rack for a 240 is cheap and usually comes with new inners and boots. But i would never change a rack due too bad inners. especially when good aftermarket inners are affordable. Ikeya formula's are sweet and around a hundred. Or stock inners for about 20 each, plus boots if there bad.

what do the boots actually do?

Moe doesn't do aligments...

Who was talking about Moe doing alignments? I was thinking more along the lines of Bert. But just go back to tires plus instead, Im sure they will get it right eventually. :bigthumbu
