ok I just took this with a basic lighting setup. I purposely created shadows and obviously I have no Wheel Bracket so I know the mesh Grandma furniture Doesn't Belong lol.

I know Haybusa03rx has enough experience with rims my question is How do I get rid of the Light Burns on the Outer Rim of the wheel???

I need advice perfecting this photo. Thanks to all.

^^^u mean like if it was done with Photoshop? Like not natural...

yuh

i dont think the lightsource frm were its comin frm (left) would leave a shadow that huge or that shape on the face of the wheel unless thats a 12in lip lol ide try re applying it it looks like it was done completely through ps idk might jus be my eyes

it's a 6in polish lip, the shadows are real just a little darkened. Mike does it look bad like that?

It looks photoshopped honestly. To me it looks like there is no depth to the wheel.

it is slightly photoshopped lol overdone maybe? I shot it RAW and The only things I altered were Blacks and contrast. I took it at 3AM in my parking Garage. And Yeah the depth is not expressed in this photo. I did take other angled shots but I liked this one for some reason.
yea i know it's dirty, this was all for fun.

To show the rim better you need alot of light and a white background, unless your that good with pshop or light room, if you are then your good to go. But light is key because people love seeing the "Bling" (How it shines) and the amount of lip the rim has. So you try to expose as much of that as you can so it can attract the buyer of the rim or to show people that you own a baller set of wheels.

That is one case were it shows the you need more light, when I say that you need it in the front and back because, it shows the whole rim, and depending if your doing a face shot that is fine but at the angle you shot the rim you need to show the outside of the rim and inner.

Here are some examples of Busa's work.

I want to avoid the white background. I already have a light tent, it's just that I want to try something different. Any suggestions towards the Original Pic?

Add more light, is my suggestion.

When I first shot in the booth doing wheels I tried breaking the mold and try different things. After about 200 shots I went back to the way it was set up with the tent and just played with the lights. There's a reason people always use light tents/booths. It works and its so much easier to control the light.

I find that customers are always asking how big the lip is on the wheels so I tried showing that off more. The customer kinda knows what the other side of the wheel that's hidden by the side/lip of the wheel.

He goes a setup of how I had the lights. The canvas where the wheel is at would be the tent. Its kinda hard to show how we had the one light above the wheel setup. That was basically bringing out the lip of the wheel. The light nearest to the camera would light up the whole tent. The flash shooting into the umbrella was a fill light. ]

Also make sure you clean off the lip of the wheel. You can see the finger prints all over it. I'd place the wheel in the booth using gloves.
