removed distributor

There was a bolt coming out far enough to touch the pully, far enough the bolt started to get shaved off. Therefore i removed the entire distributor (not marking it) and started tightening the loose bolt. When i finish i place the distributor back on, and plug in the sensors. Try turning on the car and does not turn on. I think i fucked up the timeing on the distributor. Any idea on how i can get the timeing back on track? Tryed listening for intake backfire and nothing.
Any help greatly appreciated!

shoulda marked it when u took it out. your probably 180ed out.

how could you say that... who knows how far out your are... get you motor to tdc set the rotor button to were it should be put cap back on and fire. its easy enough

try to start it with the dizzy loose. and once it starts move it all the way back.. and it should stay running. then move it forward a lil bit untill u hear it running OK. take it for a test drive if needed more adjusting. then adjust.

problem is it doesnt turn on. I tried getting it top dead center were the first sparkplug goes but i have a 1 out of 4 trys. i"ll try your suggestions tomorrow after work. Anyone else. I appreciate it guys

Put the engine to top dead center piston #1. Easiest way to tell, is to take your spark plug out of piston 1, drop something long and skinny like a dowel rod (something wood preferably so you don't damage anything), turn the engine over with a socket wrench until the marks on the crank pulley line up with the pin and the rod is all the way up. Take the dizzy out, turn it so the rotor points about 45 degrees downward and push it in. As you push it in, it will turn upwards, you need to get it so the rotor is parallel with the ground and the metal tab on it is pointed towards the front of the car.

u dont need to use a dowel, they sell whistles or what i do is find a hose that fits nice in the sparkplug hole and listen for the air coming out, this is VERY important cause ther are 4 strokes and u need to be on tdc of the compression stroke otherwise timing is fubar

Oh cool, I always just knew it was 180 out if it was TDC and didn't start. Might have to get myself one of those. Thanks for clearing that up in my post too.

ive got a compression kit that u can use the hose from if u live near springs.... i can come help u but not til the weekend and that probably wont help

Your a retard. Do not give Technical info... Stay the FUCK OUT

QUOTED FOR A GREAT EXPLANATION. I would follow this 100%. Don't look for a hose or anything, just put you palm firm over #1 plug hole a spin the crank till you feel pressure then use the rod & verify with the timing marks on the Crank pulley. ***NOTE-Be sure to only spin the crank to the right. Or else you risk loosening your Crank Pulley.
