Rear diff's and susp.

If you could build a FR driffter from scratch would you use a solid rear end or independent suspension? Why?

IRS only makes sense...if you know how it worked and what the benefits are over a solid axle, you wouldn't need an explanation...I'm confused as to why your topic mentions diffs though since they could be locking or open with either suspension setup.

Well IRS suspension all the way(you can adjust every little thing) and with a 2way lsd diff. A few people in Japan and USA have converted their ae86 into IRS. The only thing good about solid is that their less parts to worry about and thats about it.

Anybody out there that has driven both types? What did you like or disslike about each type?

i have slid both type and i cant really tell a difference...but then again both have had a normal alighment so not much of adjustments where made. i lot of people drift with solid rears just cus its part of their cars.

the guys on Celica-GTS.com all seem to belive that Solid rear axel owns all when it comes to drifting i mean i got flamed on that site when i told them that i was gonna drift my GTS as it has IRS, when i named IRS cars that drift and their excuse was always those cars have alot of power im like BULL**** i can drift with the stock power levels they think that the IRS has too much grip to drift

They are pretty much idiots over there who have no idea what they are talking about
