rb26 keeps running hot!

not running the thermo could be the issue, not sure on rbs but on some larger in line engines not running a thermo cuases the water to flow to fast and the radiator cant displace the heat fast enough so hot water just gets thrown back into the engine with out properly cooling off.

Ok i just went to the autoparts store and got a sunpro water temp gauge. I phoned a buddy and he said he wouldnt trust it trust it because its not a name brand gauge. But i dont see how it could be that far off. I took my car for a pretty long ride and when my gauge was reading normal the after market gauge said 160. i continued to drive. i stayed out of boost and never put to heavy of a load on the car. when the stock gauge was starting to creep to the "H" my new gauge was reading 170. I continued the drive. I was a little scared but i have faith in autozones gauge so now my car was reading "WAY" above the "H" But she was still driving smooth and there was no smoke or stream or anything. now its about the 180 range. I them got on the highway and thought i would let alot of air run over the rad and see how she worked. It got to 190 and stayed 190~195 the rest of the way home. I close to home and opened her up a coulpe times and the gauge read 205 and then i wouldnt come down. i pulled into my drive wayand let it sit and the temp never dropped. i turned off the car and let the fans keep running. after 2 mins i turned the car back on and the gauge was now reading 190 again.
Just wondering whats everyones opinion on it now.

Currently i am just running striaght water. Didnt want to keep wasting money on coolant if i was gonna continue to drain the rad.
Am planning on adding some water wetter once i get this sorted out also.

ur rb aint over heating its running fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was pretty confident that she wasnt but i didnt like how she got up to 205 and wouldnt come down. i need to find the sensor first. i know its not a big deal.

Like I said, aftermarket temp gauge ftw.

What fan setup are you running again? And what radiator?

Aftermarket temp gauge/altima fans/mishi or koyo/distilled water and water wetter OR Coolant

If you have everything above you should be good bro.

I've got two 12" ebay fans and misi rad. i will be putting coolant and wetter in soon now that i feel better about the situation
