port n polish question

honestly i wouldnt use a dremal tool ive seen what a head done with that even by a talented person looks like. I spent $400 on tools made just for doing head work. I worked at a machine shop for a while and thats where i learned to do it. If your trying to get mechanically inclined i wouldnt start with something this advanced. I wouldnt attempt something like this until your good at like disassembaling a motor and reassembaling it and it actually runs right when finished.

im not saying i dont know anything about cars or building them...i might not know every trick in the book like using rope in the cylinder to change valve seals with out pulling the head or just setting each cylinder to tdc when change them...i just learned that...im just saying i want to step up my skill game...its always good to learn something new...besides you get bragging rights to:cool:

exhaust would be easier than intake because on intake you kinda want it a bit rough ( textured ) to create a tiny bit of turbulence so the fuel and air mix well ( this is coming from someone that graduated from UTI in the nissan department )

disclaimer you need to know what you are doing. :bigthumbu

Who went to uti, you? I went there as well and went through the nissan program.

create a flow bench. Theres a lot more to porting then just making stuff bigger.

any thing past port matching the head to the intake and exhaust manifolds along with a good polishing would be a mistake and a waist of time without a flow bench and clay so that you actually add and remove material while measuring whether or not you are actually increasing or decreasing air flow. Yes, you can port a head and decrease air flow by increasing turbulence and choking off the chamber...

Since you said its a skill you want to learn. Go buy a flow bench or head back to school.
