POLL: Drifting weekly for say $20......

How often would you come drift or spectate?

  • Total voters
    69
  • Poll closed .
I voted every 3 weeks which would be a safe assumption of my attendance, I probably will be there every 2 weeks even if its 200 miles away.

^ well there are codes and zoneing that you have to think about and also neighbors and inlet road, enviromental impact, construction its alot of work to even build like a parking lot
definitely, thats why i scrapped for anywhere around broward or miami, cuz one there are already tracks there and broward is growing daily (like i had a choice in broward to begin with). there are not enough boonies for us to work with in this area maybe around naples but zoning and permits are banned anywhere near the everglades unless the gov't is profiting completely

and i voted for baller status as well, hey estie how much would it cost for you to weld a open diff for me

I said once a month realistically. Hope this plan really works out man.

Me too. I think this is realistic for most people event though nobody would argue that if they could, they'd do it 24/7. :D

Before the naples cart track was torn up I was over there three saturdays in a row because it was me and 3 other cars on the track which allowed me so much seat time it was stupid. I dont mind paying admission to events, but elimination or reduction in price always helps.

yeah why would you use the allready excisting tracks ?
Ter-Tech tried to find a investor to buy land and build a track about 4 1/2 years ago when it was way too early in the sport, but we did get some numbers the pavement alone with out the ground prep (clearing etc..) work was over 1 million + land+ machinery+Maintenance+insurance etc......keep in mind this was 4 1/2 years ago so now its a lot more. Getting $20 per driver will never pay for the track, therefore not a single investor will ever put any money into it with this kind of terms.
What every one here needs to do is support the allready excisting tracks and show them that you are willing to come and drive once a week or twice a week etc... also the 20-25 dollars per person will never work as long as the insurance companies are running this country so this idea is impossible atleast for now.

I'm not talking about anyone buying a new piece of land. This is Florida, anyone with money to buy a decent amount of land will want to develop it for real estate, not silly racetracks, and the zoning and environmental issues alone would make it nearly impossible. Look at what happened to Primus. Or even 30+ years ago with the 2 mile strip of concrete in the everglades known as the Jetport, or today as TnT Collier

I didnt want to go into too much detail but anything but it will have to be at an existing facility and just be an expansion, or addition.

So basically any oval, or other track. I dont know if places like countyline are allowed expansion.

We would most likely need some assistance in the form of selling naming rights. Remember "ProPlayer stadium"? Office Depot Arena, MAZDA raceway Laguna Seca, etc etc. Also each pary of the course can be named, for example; T-Mobile chicane, Monster energy hairpin, Adidas sweeper. Plus every square inch of wall or surface can behi
used for advertising.

Think something like "Maroone Nissan driftpark at Bobs raceway....."

Now about the $25 per person, yes that is very feasible. Every friday night across this country cars hit well over a hundred miles per hour drag racing for less than $20 each. I have watched cars flip over, hit the wall at 100 or more, hit each other, burst into flames, all kinds of carnage... If that can be done for under $20 each, then for sure our passion can be accommodated for $25 each. Especially when we provide our own course workers.

Whoever decides to pick up on this idea will make plenty of money from it. Pro events will be held there, it will attract people every weekend, food sales, TV exposure etc

Desoto is doing it right now,
sunday practice 2 to 3 times a month at $20 and one friday night practice/comp. at $50.

As I said use the allready excisting tracks. Only reason desoto or any other track is able to do is that they go under their yearly insurance. which I could go more into but no need to. anyways to get a new place or use excisting by expanding would cost alot, the 1 mil was not the land that is just for the pavement. Like for us when we use a actual drift specific insurance we pay well over $1400 per event so add track etc in it and it makes it impossible atleast for us to charge $20-25, but if some one is able to figure out how to do it more power to you.
Drag racing has years of records how many crashes, etc... thats why the insurance for it is cheap, when drifting has no history it is considered the most dangerous sport in the world LOL worst than demolision derby with motorcycles etc....untill insurance companies change their attitude towards drifting the cost is high.

I'd have to agree with TerTech on this one. A couple years ago you guys were struggling to get an event two maybe three times a year. The sport is slowly growing in popularity and more tracks are hosting more events so if you concentrate on growing the fan base on the existing track events then investors will be more attracted.

It took a lot to get Countyline off the ground, several years and a lot of support by the city and state and they just now became IHRA sanctioned for next year. Concentrate on putting on great shows at these places and draw large crowds and this will open some doors.
