Playing with my Camera (Nikon D3000)

I went out with a friend of mine yesterday to take some photos of his evo. Still experimenting with all the settings on my camera.

Advice is more than welcome to help me improve:)
 
I dont like the way the photos are cropped. But thats more of a personal thing. Backgrounds are pretty and all but they are rather distracting.
 
You can have a background but make sure the focus is the car. That's why most car shots are like 75-85% of the car is in the photo and the rest is background.

+1 seems like you saw the background a liked it and then placed the car there, more like scenic travel photography. try looking at the car and find out what you like about it and then try to portray that in your photo. heres a little example i had

first shot seemed like ehh.

Your best shot I think is the last one, and the one I like the most. Forgot to mention that.
 
I really appreciate the input and examples guys. I took about 155 shots yesterday and I was advised to setup the camera to RAW settings. I have yet to do that but my next outing I will set my camera up for that.

Make sure you have something to edit them with
 
I cant make a Sig Solowkoopi because I dont have an orange name...but thank you for the comment :)
Nelson right now I have software I downloaded from paint.net and the Nikon View NX from the camera purchase. I plan on getting better software but really cant afford anything at the moment.
 
No I mean make a better signature for your pictures. That one you got is like you just used a random font.
