Now that I feel as if I have the basics of photraphy down, I'd like to learn some of the more advanced topics. What forums or other web sites do you guys use when you need to find the answer to all things photography related?
 
my girlfriend is looking for a camera and after seeing you guys who are sick photographers bash nikon ill assume nikon is really shitty? whats a good beginner camera around $600-$1000 range?
 
^Same, you don't need nowhere near $1,000 to start.
But once you do, $1,000 will look like pocket change.

nikon isnt shit, were just a bunch of canon fanboys :D

dont spend $1000 on ur first camera. buy a entry level body and pick up the 50 1.8 of whichever manufactuer you decide to go with, trust me on that. cheap body good glass > expensive body kit lens

and oh man, i wish i could remember the days where 1000 was the high end of my camera budget. this hobby literally sucks the money out yo wallet.
 
It really is preference.
I've just always shot nikon- body, lenses, everything.
But my first camera was maybe $500, then you just start buying more and more stuff until you have no money left for the wheels you saved the money for in the first place, like me haha.
