so im buying some stock 240sx se wheels and was thinking about painting them. what is the best cheapest way to do it. i just dont want them to flake. what do you all think i know it sounds bad to want to do it cheap. but i just dont want the stock color. what is the best process to do this. wire wheel first, then primer, then paint. any certain type of paint. what would hold up best. any help is appreciated

I just used regular spray paint on my wheels and it has held up fine...2 months so far and not one flake. Just make sure you clean them really good with a good degreaser and they should come out fine.

So what color are you gonna go with?

If you use spray paint, just dont pressure wash it.

But yes, spray paint is the fastest and cheapest way to go about it.

When i painted my meshies all i did was sand the wheels first with a light grain paper (not to take out the old paint but enough as to accept the new paint) then i used a tack rag to remove any resedue. after this i used high temp resistant wheel primer and paint from discount auto parts. the primer goes on like a silver, i used about 2-3 coats of that, with about 30- 50 minutes of drying time between coats. then i sprayed on the gold paint with about 1hr 20 min drying time between my three coats. after it all dryed i repeated the process with some clear coat, about three coats again 30-50 min drying time. you can see the end result in my garage

I used degresser and Scotch Brite Pads to give it a small scuff.

2 - 3 Coats of Primer

5 coats of the color you choose

The trick is do several light coats. Hold the Can about 7" - 10" away from the rim and use SHORT BURSTS. Do not hold the noozle open you will get drips and spots.
