opinion on sportmax 962

they are considered "cheapo" wheels because they are cheap. period.

now if you like the wheels then go for them. but there are other things to consider. weight is a big issue, especially when drifting and you rely on torque. now when it comes to wheels, you have rotational mass. wheels are what gets your car rolling. for every pound of weight you shave off your wheels, its equivalent to losing 10 pounds of weight somewhere else on your car. eg. if you get wheels that are each 5 pounds lighter than stock, thats 20 pounds you save, x 10 = 200. so its like you just shaved 200 pounds of weight off your car. and obviously weight is important in this sport which is why you see so many people with gutted interiors, carbon fiber parts, etc etc.

now personally i do own sportmax 002s. i liked the wheels and thats all my budget could afford. i still have to weigh those and then weigh my other wheels and see which ones are lighter so i can decide which to use for drifting. for now the sportmax are my daily wheels.
if you like it then go for it, but if your not in a rush and youre serious into drifting then i would save up for some lighter wheels. i think it was import tuner or one of those magazines that had an article on lightest wheels at this years SEMA which you may check into and find useful. but be forewarned, good constructed, light wheels will cost you.

hope that helps you a bit

Dito this guy. i have them in gun metal and for daily use. They do the job. The car looks nice.

In the end, its how much of a fan boy do you want to look like because everyone rocks SportMax, just like Rotas.

My only thing is.... if you do rock popular cheapo wheels, make sure you rock the proper offset and tires to make it as flush as possible.

Agreed 100%

I have seen these wheels shatter from an impact.

If you want to rock wheels with a decent offset that are whored out, yet not considered too cheap then go for 5zigen FN01RC. They aren't baller spec, but they are light, come in decent sizes and offsets, and shouldn't break the bank.

Example of another el cheapo wheel too many people rock, HP Flights. Those things are everywhere.

Even cheaper choice yet still nice offsets and wheel strength are stock Z32, Z33 and G35 wheels. Many 240's have used them and they work well and fit great.

ADR's aren't a bad wheel either. I had some MSPORTS on my car for a couple weeks.

if ur a drifter buying new rims are a waste of money
buy used JDM tightness...

I think they are cheap wheels with not good quality, the only set i like from SportMax is the 006 wheels with the red lip. I would get them for my Red S14 but i will also get a set of Diamond Racing for the rear at least. Thats my opinion

why drift with nice rims on?
Thats just stupid as hell when some of us are not even going to events enough!
and it's also stupid to burn HP tires (witch cost more) on practice night meets.
Just buy what you want and when you want to drift put on some steelies with use tires!
THAT THE SMART THING TO DO!

i like those alot ...for my red s14 toooo but then again nah.

but i would rather spend an extra 400 and get something else....you have to bargain if the weight is more or less important than the looks....
