Are you serious??
Christopher Columbus? We don't celebrate the man, we recognize him for his accomplishments, for discovering this half of the world. Without him MOST of America's history would of never happened, or we would of had someone else discover this land and possibly do the SAME shit.
Is this the pretty stories grade school and middle school taught you? You really think we are going to slander our selves..
Columbus didn't find shit...They were narrow minded and believed the earth was flat. I mean shit if I was brought up to believe it I would think that too.

1) Columbus was not the first European to reach America.
2) Have you looked at America in a map? Its fucking huge. If he hadn't reached it, someone else would have, just like they had before.
3) Columbus was a fucking douchebag. Read his own journals about what he did and what he thought and make up your own mind. I personally think that celebrating "Columbus Day" is b.s. He happened to be in the right place at the right time, that doesnt make him a hero.
4) Still, its pretty ballsy to take a trip like that in only 3 caravels...which are really damn small ships.

5)By the time columbus sailed for the Indies, Europeans didn't think the world was flat. That's part of the whole Columbus myth b.s. They weren't that retarded you know.
6) True. Europeans at that time were filthy as fuck. They were surprised at the cleanliness of the Aztecs, and amazed that they took daily baths and that the streets of Tenochtitlan weren't over run with shit and filth like the streets of European cities.
7) Although the Europeans did wage major warfare against the indians and the cases of their excesses and brutalities are well documented, the major reason for the death of so many indians was not warfare, it was disease. The Spanish didn't want the exterminate the indians....they needed them to pay taxes and contribute to the economy with labor and tribute.
8) slambarsoldier owns this thread, those posts were funny as hell.
