Oil Starvation... FTL

BiG MiKE

My SR seems to be having Oil starvation issues - making a loud tapping noise coming from the head it sounds like. Pulled the valve cover off, unplugged the cas, and turned it over a few times to see if any oil was flowing the the oil rails? that sit over the cams. Seems that the intake cam was getting oiled over cyl. 2,3,4 oil was flowing a pretty decent over the cam lobe - cyl. 1 got nothing - and pretty much the entire exhaust side was dry - especially towards the front of the engine

(ive got a video of turning the engine over will post soon)

This is a Redtop SR - with about 15k since rebuild - pretty much everything new including oil pump, pickup, seals, greddy oil pan, etc...

I have no oil pressure gauge :chair: (buying one today), oil level was a tad low but still in good, nothing in the head looked outta the ordinary

WTF Could be causing this? Where should I begin to look?

Thanks

maybe the rail is clogged?
like a small metal shaving or something could be clogging the squirter hole?
I was thinkin of pullin those off today n cleanin em with something like gas or brake cleaner and compressed air

What should oil pressure be on an SR @ idle?

ya man, like he said sounds like u have a clogged line, just make sure to bleed the squirters, if i remember correctly the SR stock ones are not self bleeding.

gl man

Lawlzzz that happened to me on my old Sr20 remove the oil rail drench the fucker in brake cleaner get a air compressor and blow air threw it repeat the process like 3-4 times you should be ok put everything back together crank the motor by hand just to make sure everything is getting oil if anything i have a set of those rails lmk!! GL

ralph, he was saying that he was going to remove the oil squirter andclean it in case there was debris in the squirter hole, I just told him that if he removes the squirters, I think the sr20 squirters are not self bleeding andhe would have to reblead them by hand, at no time did I talk about the oil rail, w.e

idk man, dl a sr rebuild dvd and the guy said oil squirters, I just checked, w.e dude I could be mistaken, and as for ralph and abe ya I get confused since they are always on top of each other, hard to tell from the mass lol jk

If he had valvetrain tick maybe air in the squirter can cause that!! But he has oil starvation!!

Frank its 2 things watching a video and having the issue infront of you and diagnosing it!!

ur right black mamba, im not diagnosing his issue, im just throwing a idea, which in this case its the wrong one apperantly, so I retract my previous statements.

it dosnt have to do with dificulty, I just stated something that a instructional dvd commented about oil issues with the rail and or squirters , im not diagnosing his shit, cause im not as good as most of u at diagnositics, unless its a computer, so ill just wish him luck
