Man up, build speed (sacrifice angle if you don't have a lot of power), lock all 4 brakes, drop 1st, rotate, up 2nd, get ready to switch back for sweeper.

At no point in this process should you lift the gas. Not even while shifting.
But more on topic: Fairly close to stock miatas will hardly ever use an ebrake initiation though. You really cannot sacrifice speed on those cars. To keep a drift going, you'll have to sacrifice angle much before you sacrifice speed.
Just practice the basics. Once you get the hang of that, try to keep the foot down for as much as you can consciously remember. :bigthumbu
