Thats another thing the Miata rear end won't hold it unless its reinforced or you put another rear end on it.

+1 research and u ll find the rear end you need. ive seen the swap in front end but i forgot what car he got the rear end out of. i know on the ls1 swap you would have to get a cts rear end

the strongest rear end offered for a miata are the 99+ rear ends with the one peice axles...and to drop in a Ka (or even an sr for that matter) you will need to costumize your oilpan including your oilpick up and tray...and thats not including the motor/tranny/diff mounts and wiring.... do remember that the tranny and diff are mounted on a brace so the chassis doesnt have a location for the mount..making it harder to just make a "custom" mount... and if you do plan on going v8 i hope your wallet is deep and check out www.monstermiata.com ...the proper "drop right in" v8 swap cost about $4000 ($5000 if you decided to go with the Thunderbird rear end and custom Axles that can be purchased with the kit) with out the motor..and go with a 5.0 v8 of the sn95 mustangs...its the best motor with the least clearance issues....an ls1 is nice but way bigger than a 5.0 and requires way more custom work to make it fit...

and yes i used to own a miata...
