Ka24e timing issues

so this is were i stand right now. this weekend i pulled the motor on my pignose (s13). I pulled it because the oil pump gave out one day and locked my engine.
So saturday was spent pulling out the old SOHC. then on sunday I dropped in my spare SOHC. the swap was a success, it even started on first try. But my timing was out of hand.

At first it was really bad and as the motor settled in it got a little better but still running off time.
When putting in the spare SOHC, i replaced the timing chain guides, chain, tensioner, and cam and crank gear. Aswell, i had put a brand new oil pump.

The distributor is moved all the way to the right but is still off time. If i move it to the left it just gets worst, so it stays to the right for now.
Can anyone give me any ideas of how to get my shit back on time.
Also can anyone let me know the wire order on the distributor (ex: were the 1 goes, 2, 3, 4) just to make sure i have them in the right places.

yea i know ive been trying to get a hold of my friend who has one but its been unsuccessful. hopefully this weekend i can take the trip to homestead to see him. but other than that my father sugested that i take out the oil pump and move it over one gear tooth.
Why he said this i have no idea, he said something that the timing works off the oil pump. any clues?>???

your dads thinking about v8s

you could have put the distributor on with the gear out of place

take the distributor off and turn the gear one tooth in the direction that makes it run better

nah the distributor cant be outta gear cuz theres only one way 2 put it... this shyt happened to me well kinda my shyt didnt wanna get into timing but i didnt do a timing job but similar to what ur speakin.. check ur distributor it could be bad the actual distributor itself thats wha happened 2 mine the shaft waz loose and it would get outta timing so try checkin that

i have a brand new cylinder head with everything on it.... mad cheap let me know i got people how have seen it and can vouch for its condition ...

so what your saying is that when i put the oil pump in it really doesnt matter as to what position i put it in. it wouldnt effect the timing?
and btw now i got a hold of my friend with the timing light and im going to homestead today after work.
is there anything else that i sould worry about internally wise that would effect the timing. i mean besides the distributor that is.

joel i didnt understand your firing order. i meant i need to know were the wirers plug up to on the distributor starting from the top left going clockwise....

lol.. there you go

what da hell is he talking about oil pump? the oil pump has NOTHING to do with the timing,.

if when you turn the distributor to the right it gets better then unplug the cable , take the bolts out and pull it and turn it one tooth to the left, then the distributor should be more around the middle. (in beetween the tooths)
mark the top of the distributor with a knife or sumething sharp so you can kinda move it by deegrees, thats is the easy way and just try it till it turns on really quick and you have the desired response.
once the tooth is right you can play with the timing advancing it or retarding it to give you better top end or low end or stock.
( fast out the hole but no top speed or slow but then top speed )
mine is sluggish at the begining and then it really kicks in round 3500rpm and i got great top speed,. my timing is advanced 3deegres i believe.....
