J-Wang's crash at XDC

I lost count of how many crashes there were this weekend.

+1, still one of the most badass events at cfrc ive been to. Good to know none of the drivers were seriously injured and the majority of said crashed cars were still driving by the end of the day.

totally ^^ lots of destruction chris jackson's car unfortunately may be the worst i saw. Amazing driving from everyone.

from what i was told it was a total of 10 cars this weekend

1. Nate Hamilton rear tap (old course)
2. Texas Cressida dude into the tire barriers at the SW corner of the media island (old course)
3. J-Wang into the back (old course)
4. Miro back into the 1st wall
5. Heffe into the back during practice today
6. Chris Jackson
7. NST 86 with a front tap on the 1st wall
8. Heffe again
9. Gold S13 on 1st wall
10. JLowe into the 1st wall

SO,
I have a question/ concern?

It was fairly evident the turnout was great, the place was packed and the show that was put on was FUCKING AMAZING. My buddy Brian came down from WI and when he dropped his trailer off on Friday he was very concerned with how...for lack of a better term..."weak the track looked" .
Yesterday after he got knocked out, we were hanging out and watching Chelsea and the wolf run, and he told me that this was the MOST fun he's ever had tandeming. He said this track is great and really intense when tandeming (which surprised me).
Do you fear people won't want to drive here in the future because of the carnage that occurs? Like do u think XDC will want to come back for this? I really hope they do, because I for one had a fucking blast yelling at the top of my lungs the entire day.
Im so sunburnt, and i lost my voice, but fucking A I wish tomorrow was yesterday so I can relive it again.

For sure bro had a blast with everyone. We were screaming our heads off. Sad for everyone that stuffed it but some wicked driving. Best event i ever attended. Especially hanging with this ^ sexy dood.

I think that grey car backed it in kinda good too.
Also, at least 3 other cars got wall damage too. Just not as bad.

Yeah I feel like XDC will wanna come back, but none of the drivers will haha. Unless they make some serious changes. I'll just go back to cruisin the miata around there.

i find it so odd that they changed the setup they started with (reverse layout) because people wrecked. they moved start farther back, and then had us going to the farther turn, right at a wall still, but no tires infront of this one....

soo... shorter entry, closer start point, tire barrier... no good, so lets take away the tires... go with a faster entry, and move start back a little, and then we should keep this gigantic press box sticking out in the way so they cant see the corner....that makes it safer!

not that I was driving well anyways, but the first course like 1 person out of the 20 that went drove it correct so it made the course look 'bad' when it was fine.

they even said in the meeting "we dont want to see cars hit"..... you sure? hah.

Yeah the first turn was gnarly with that island in the middle. Then they were putting so much importance on that first outside clip. That shit was real scary.

I was doing soo good at being conservative and just doing my thing, but something as stupid as missing a shift got me out of the groove for a split second and it was all over.

The space between the walls on either course setup looked about the same though, meaning the back wall or the island were about the same, but you hug inside on first setup, where it was outside second one.

XDC usually has sweeping turns from what I've seen so people were just overshooting (not slowing) for the first clip on the original course....

I saw that mis-shift and it was slow motion of what was coming... shark bite #4?

XDC via Facebook that they will come back, but there's nothing set in stone, nothing with a contract or anything.

The course wasn't changed because of wrecks, it was changed because "it was boring as hell", which were words exactly out of Petty's mouth on Saturday.

The course isn't what makes drivers crash, if that was the case, every driver would have crashed that day, it's just a very unforgiving course layout, a simple mistake can turn into a disaster,it's really hard to do anything about it.

ah, well thats a better reason i guess, I wasnt near him and thats what I was told by someone. still, I think that layout would have been do able, its part of road atlanta that way even haha.
