installing rear studs... help please

So i take off my nicer wheels on the s13 to put the shitty dift spares it came with on the back so i can paint another coat on my rear QP. While taking the lug nuts off, i notice how FUCKED the studs are... ruining four of my nice expensive tuner lug nuts... sweet

so i hammer those bitches out with the intent to replace them with the circuit sports extended studs i saved from my s14. Ive done wheel studs on my maxima and they were cake. Put the stud in, screw in an open end lug nut, tighten it enough against the rotor to pull the stud through nice and tight, and done!

so i try this on the s13... not happening. The studs just keep spinning. Theres not enough room to hammer the studs in from the back to start them, and continue the rest with the nut, so i have to do it holding the back of the stud with a vice grip so it wont spin. Even this way, i get the lug nut in as tight as i can with the vice grip and breaker bar with 21mm deep socket, with the intent to unscrew the lug nut (still holding the back of the stud with the vice grip), once its out, put the caliper back on, pull the e-brake so it doesnt spin, and tighten it all the way once thats done

so as i go to unscrew the lug nut.. what do you know.. the stud spins!

I tried this multiple times, multiple different ways for a solid 3 hours and ive come to the conclusion that the easyest way would just be to take the hubs themself off and hammer the studs in from the back

That would be great, except i cant do that because i have no transmission in the car right now, so the driveshaft will just spin around freely...

So... im running out of options here. Anybody have any advice?

When you take the rear hubs off, theres that bolt that goes onto the axle. If you try to spin that with one tire in the air, and you have no transmission and you are open diff, your just going to spin the differential and not get anywhere

where as if you have a transmission and your driveshaft is hooked up to it, you can leave the transmission in gear which will stop it from spinning

Just on the passenger side, the drivers sides studs were fine. I wasnt gonna replace the studs till later but since the ones on the passenger side were so messed up i decided to do it

and yeah, the motor and tranny is out of the car, and the diff is open so it will just spin freely. Im lost on what to do

my honest opinion vise grip the back of the lug, and hand tighten the lug til the teeth line up and hold itself. I had to do that worked out for me..

I tried that... didnt work. I got it to the point where my friend would have gloves and two hands on the vice grip pushing down and i would pull up with the breaker bar, or i would step on the vice grip with my foot

and even then... not enough. It doesnt make sense, cause it should not be this hard at all

to add to this already accoplished thread, if ur studs were stripped it might be because the "tuner lugs" are not the correct thread. yea they might fit and stay on tight but if their not the right ones their eventually gonna strip the stud, so i would make sure the lugs are actually for ur car....
