illegal exhaust??

So i have a HKS hi-power on my NA KA S14

my dad borrows my car and get pulled over. highway patrol tells him its illegal because its modified.Dad calls me and I tell him to say its under 93 decibels so he does cop tells him
"no its not i could give you a ticket for noise violation also, ill give you a warning but if i see you or your son with this muffler ill give you 2 tickets"

oh "if he can afford a 250 dollar exhaust he can afford a 75 dollar ticket!"

WTF!!! im not sure but whats the legality of exhausts in FL.

i got a 2.5 Straight trough Pipe to a Forza Tip! and i got a lil Leak.
and my shit is REALLY REALLY loud.

and NEVER has it hapend to me to get stoped.

MOdified exhaust is illegal.

If you get pulled over by DOT you will be ass raped! NO LUBE

NO CAT = $1400 FINE Last I checked

Modified Exhaust is a Fix it Ticket =$75 and you must show to the police station with an OEM Muffler system

Noise Violation MUST BE MEASURED by a Device that most cops carry IIRC. Cops and DOT have them

IF YOU GET PULLED FOR A MUFFLER DO NOT ARGUE THAT IT IS NO THAT LOUD... SMILE AND NOD AND TAKE THE FIX IT TICKET.

man ive got like 5 fix it tickets and i just pay the max fine because i dont and never want to put the stock exhaust on my car ever!!! i just tell the cop to keep em coming because its my choice to mod my car and all take full responbilty and my choice to take the tickets!! im stubborned!!!
 
You are just unlucky. Besides, highway patrol are usually state troopers who are stuffed up the buttwhole with a coconut. Better to just smile and say yes when it comes to them. Otherwise I've never had a problem with county troops. They usually just smile and say "nice car, just be more careful".

I do believe modified exhaust w/o cat's are illegal.
 
316.272 Exhaust systems, prevention of noise.--

(1) Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation, including muffler, manifold pipe, and tailpiping to prevent excessive or unusual noise. In no event shall an exhaust system allow noise at a level which exceeds a maximum decibel level to be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.061(11) in cooperation with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a vehicle on a highway.

(2) The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

(3) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

You are always doing something wrong. If you are standing still doing nothing a cop can show up and give you a ticket because you're not doing anything and its suspicious, aka loitering. There was a cop on a magazine that said, "I can preaty much stop anyone I want and give them a ticket for anything." If you are driving, you are breaking the law in some way or form. I'm not going on any further because I don't trust anyone. There are always cops infiltrated everywhere and word gets around quick among them.
 
i got pulled over once in the vigor for the exhaust and just told the cop i was leaking, took one look at it and said ok and let me go...custom straight pipes with a stock looking tip ftw.

Genious, I look at profesional cars and there loud as fuck but if you look at the tips, its often times not bigger then 1-1.5 inches
 
i wish i still had pictures of the exhausts actually chubbs might still have some.

This isn't Cali. If it's modified, it's perfectly fine. The main beef with exhausts are the decibel levels. If you can prove that your muffler (modified or not) does it's job, then you're fine. You are not even required to use a catalytic converter.

actually depends on how much of a dick the cop wants to be i know that chubbs looked into it because hes been stopped for his like 5 times already and they told him modified exhausts are all illegal but i dunno if that were true then wouldnt they ban them or something.
 
Cops dont know the law verbatim, they tell you what they think its right and they'll never admit fault in your face. I got a ticket for no proof on insurance in an accident where I was a victim (where I didnt even need to show him my insurance papers). The ticket got dropped in court.
