Well, I wasn't to sure where to post this, so mods can move it wherever. They don't seem to make anything for the Toyota guys but I still wanted to share it. I think it's pretty cool and admire the labor to develop it. I hope you guys like it. . .

Convert your standard gearshift to a sequential gearshift with this Ikeya Formula shifter. A bolt on unit, replacing the original gear stick with this clever unit, allowing you to shift gears in the same pattern as a race car!

Driving a performance car hard many drivers might have experienced missed gears, or incorrect shifts particularly from 2nd to 3rd and from 4th to 5th. Changing gear incorrectly or missing a gear can lose you time on the circuit, and can also damage the car. This unit allows you to change gears in a sequential pattern, pushing the gearstick forward to downshift, and pulling the stick back to change up. Use of the clutch is still required, as the standard transmission is still being used.

Extensive development went into the inner structure. It is designed to provide positive yet light action. This means errors and missed gears are a thing of the past with positive and precise shifts every time.

The Ikeya Formula is a fully mechanical unit: it has several advantages over complex electronics or hydraulics:

It is simple to fit; there are no complex electronics or hydraulics to set up or adjust. Simply remove the original gear stick, and replace with the new unit.

It gives you feedback; The use of a mechanism allows you the driver to feel the gears engage, so you know that you can floor the throttle again.

There is no delay in shifting; Because it is mechanical, there are no annoying delays associated with electronic or hydraulic systems.

The Sequential shifter is fully tested and certified for safety in Japan. A safety lever is used for selection of reverse gear so you cannot select it by accident.

heyyy look its just like the initial d game shifter. nice find, But to me it looks kinda useless though, for the price i mean. Also, makes shifting gears less funner. Ill stick to the old fashion way, more of a challenge

Yeah, might be possible but we need to see it in person. It would be way down the road, I can't drop the amount of $$ on something I have to adapt to fit(I did that enough on my swap lol). Even though the price is not too bad.
 
Yea, they have them for Porsche, 240's, FD's etc. But they start around $1400 if I remember right.

That will be very tough. The throw, gate size, side movement etc. on each of those shifters are made specifically to adapt to the cars they advertise. For you to redo it, you will need to do tons of welding and trips to machine shops to get shit made. I may get one for the rx7 before the year is over.

$1400 just to have a different gear pattern. Totally retarded in my opinion.
 
I think its a waste of money. Joey the owner of spool up racing picked up a used one for his s14 for $600. It puts the shifter in a weird place, and looks crazy with all that just sitn where the shifter goes. But even for $600 I think its dumb. H-pattern for the win!!!!
 
^^It's definatley a faster shift. Downshifts are pushing forward, upshifts are pulling back. No way you can mis-shift ever. Tons of the D1 guys use the Ikeya type shifter.
 
d1 cars use real seq. trans. like clutch 1st and thats it. d1 shit have hollinger(sp?) sequentials. like 10k.

you still need to use the clutch for every shift. this shit is like 1500 for boop.

Nomuken uses an Ikeya type. He can clutch kick and still be sequential shift pattern. And a few others. Not all use a true sequential.

Doesn't matter. 1400 for nothing!!! If u can't drive stick what r u doing drifting? Can't find then grind it- should never be used in drifting. Fuckn waste of money

More than that if you listen to the vid you can hear the trani wine then clunk every time he shifts thats because he has a dog mision with no sincros.It allows the tranni to handle the 600 horses he pushing plus the abuse from that shifter.Supusedly that thig blows stock tranni's.

Well, interesting responses lol. Well, I always enjoy the engineering of some products for cars. I didn't know about the fact that they blow stock trannys, it puts that much stress on it huh? I wouldn't go as far to say people who have it can't drive, I sure know Inose can rip it up along with a few other drivers who have it. Everyone miss-shifts at one point or another, hopefully it won't be in a competition. This can help prevent that. I know if I could get one for cheap or test one I would give it an honest shot, before judging on it. ;)


PS I would like to see one in person though, does that guy still have it on his s14?
 
Not so much if I like it or not, I just would like to test it out and see for myself. One thing I learned is what works well for one person doesn't always work for someone else. I'm curious to see how it actually works, the engineering behind it. I'm happy with my H-pattern, at this point all I want is to drive my 86 already lol.
