if it aint one thing its another (help)

so would it be pointless to put oil in it to see if that does anything, or should i just start saving for a new ka

adding oil now is pointless, you could replace the bearings
for now and it would buy you some time so you can atleast
get to school and what not.

how much is it to replace the bearings?

what needs to be done to completley eliminate the rod knock and have the engine running healthy?

what im thinking of doing is if its gonna cost like $500, then just buy a new ka to daily drive, take mine out and rebuild it on the side so

A. ill have a freshly rebuilt KA
B. ill be able to learn without being rushed for time
C. when im ready to boost, i wont have to worry about problems from an old motor that needs to be rebuilt

or D. buy an sr and call it a day

That is not the timing chain dont even waste you time looking there. Well there is no questions to ask you either need anythere engine (cheaper) or a rebuild and the crankshaft is gonna need some serious machine shop work. i know the feeling but ur fucked. If you need help wit it i have my shop not to far.

my plan was to buy another ka in and use that, then the fucked one, ill take out put it on an engine stand in my garage and rebuild it

but if you said the crankshaft is gonna need some serious machine work, how expensive is it gonna be to fix all of this?

im not really too sure what rod knock is, i dont know much about engines, all i know is that its when your piston rods are knocking, and its really bad

if its gonna be to hard to rebuild on the side cause of whats wrong with it, am i better off just selling this one for cheap?

and you say i can get a good ka for 200? i always thought it was around 500

im talking about one that runs good that i can just swap into my car with no problems

i know what a block is, but whats a long block?

also i thought the block was just like... the block without any internals or anything

im guessing i dont need a head either, just a block with internals?

long block = assembled block and head with internals
you dont need the manifolds or anything seeing that you already have them

nice, so $200 for a long block? thast not as bad as i thought it would be

thats somthing i can buy today holy shit lol

well ill do what i have to do
the thing with the tranny was working underneath a car that ive had no experience doing any work on whatsoever, where i only had a couple inches of space to move around and couldnt see anything

with the engine im working from above the car, and ill be able to take it out and work on it on the side

my friend whos been living with me (19 and homeless right now) built a 68 fastback ground up with his dad when he was little, and hes been helping me out with my car a lot latley and knows way more than i do

so hes probably gonna help me out with that

if not i can just figure somthing else out or pay sombody to do it, whatever needs to be done
