that one of my co-worker's friend from back home (so he says) drift races his honda civic. i gave him a weird look and said i didnt think that could happen because civics are fwd, he swore up and down it could. so i did a little research but everything seems to be conflicting.

please someone help clarify this for me.

I know you cant drift them because its fwd, but some say you could. so idk.

So you take what on NON Drifter says and believe. Tisk Tisk

Drifting is a controlled oversteer. Can Civics Oversteer? Yes Can they control it? Some drivers can. Can they connect turns from the eXit of an Apex to the beginning of another? It is possible.

I was once told Drifting is Road racing with a little more throttle. Same race line, same concept, so why not?

Is that tricycle drifting? Are you a mechanical engineer?

lol last time i checked fwd cars wheels mechanically spin in front :)

And? What is your point? Is there still oversteer? Smoke coming from the front tires? Angle? Speed? Ability to hold a proper race line? All those are areas judged by drifting.

so it is possible to drift a fwd car? is the technique the same with a fwd and it is with a rwd?

^^ Not really. Its pretty gay. Sure you can slide it, but then you cant keep the slide going :thumbdown

Yes it is possible. Same theory. Weight transfer, Oversteer, Race Line, Angle. Need more speed, different suspension set up obviously.

Now weather or not your friend doesn't or not is a different story. Tell him to participate at an event.

thank you! i have given up arguing this point with most people.

rwd drift> awd drift > fwd drift.

because it is an inferior platform does NOT mean it CANNOT "Drift".

look up Hatakeyama:
