Ok so i finally got a job, and after dropping my car and doing the little things it needs ima save up for a swap. But i been pretty undecided. I found a site whcih i can range my price range with. Now i would love a S15 SR20 or and RB26 or 25, but theyre just expensive. SO i Have narrowed it down to the RB20 and the s13 SR20 Redtop. Im not really in it for the power, cuz i really dont race much. Now my pros on the SR20, is that its lightweight, and porbably an easier swap for my s13. And the pros for the rb20 is that is about $150-200 less, oh and its RB so it has that beautiful RB sound. I have never done a swap myself. Ive done swaps on my truck but thats v8 to v8 carb'ed thats no big deal. I did help my brother with his sr20 into his former s14, but i was younger and i still have no idea how to do it. So my deal is, i want the best bang for my buck. And is there a big MPG difference, the car is my daily so yea, ill be running lowww boost lol.

sr swap is cake rb swap is alittle harder why do you need a boosted motor if you not gonna "race" just put newer KA in it.

ka's are nooo funnn lol. I dont race, doesnt mean i dont have fun. Ill still take it to countyline and race it there, im just not into that whole street racing thing. I still race my friends and messing around. Plus a swap brings the cars value up so just in case one day i wanna sell it.

i vote other.. be unique. sr20s are every where. theres a hand full of RB's..

a swap only brings up the cars value so much if your goal is to make money your not gonna do it that way. you lose money every time you sell a modified car. Oh and i have plenty of fun with my KA.

carbed n/a sr!!!!!

to be honest, rb20's have a sick fence pipe sound and ive never seen one blow a head gasket. i had a friend junking his r32 and tried to blow the engine when he was drifting for one last time and did a sweeping turn in second red lining the son of a bitch and it kept going like the energizer bunny.

but if you are going to dd it, parts might be expensive.

not to sound like a KA fanboy (i dun wants to get teh flamezor on a SR forum like this one lawl) but is turboing the KA the car has in it out of the question? if youre KA is in good shape and has good compression you can put together a cheap turbo kit for around $2k using SR parts and make more power than a stock S13/14 SR20 and be at the level of a S15 SR...oh and have way more torque too. Im only suggesting this because you said a S15 SR or RB swap is what you want but its too expensive. you can turbo the KA and make almost as much power and about as much torque for a fraction of the cost really. if you spend a little more monies around maybe 3.5K you can have a reliable KA-T set up and make 300whp on a daily driving car :bigthumbu

I personally have driven an SR20 Redtop and I own an RB20 swapped 240. I would never trade my motor for the world unless of course it was being traded for a 25,26 or LS1. The RB20 has more toque than the SR20 but is also heavier. In order for an SR20 to run with the stock RB20 they need to turn up their boost, thats when you hear KAPOTIE! As far as gas milage I'm sure the SR gets way better gas milage but IMO they sound like BUTT the RB sounds like pure sex!

Just my 2 cents.....if you have the money go LS1 if not RB is the way to go, BTW I daily my RB20 if that means anything.

1jz if ur cheap or 2jz if ur ballin. either way toyota motors are superior to nissan

Wow. That has to be the dumbest thing ive ever heard.

Based on what that there is 1500hp 2j's? Who cares? Theres plenty of nissan motors that do that.

Such a biased response. Whats your opinion based on?

I didnt know the 4ac was better then a single cam ka.

3sgte vs sr20det, 1jz vs rb25det, 2jzgte vs rb26. not only toyota motors are stronger; theyre more reliable and parts are readily available. still love nissan though

LOL you sound like a commercial. Call toyota and try to find 20 valve springs and retainers. Cause m4nfred looked forever and toyota NLA them. He had to buy upgraded ones because toyota doesnt carry them anymore. In fact i think he said they had them they just had no way of getting them to him. I laughed.

mm... 3sgte :)

get an SR. very straightforward swap. you dont need new mounts. you dont need a new DS. less headaches.
