i dont know what it is but for whatever reason my car bogs intermittenly whenever it wants, it doenst matter what gear it is and it happens at just about any rpm more frequently at 5k and generally past 3k and then the next day the car runs fine, the problem seems to occur when the car has been running for a long time, earlier today i did a bunch of donuts with no issues whatsoever, i get on the high way and it pulls just fine, then when i got off the high way 5 min later down 8 st the problem starts, the weird part is if i drive normal everything SEEMS ok, i got home and swapped ecu with the same issue so its no the ecu, im thinking it has something to do with fuel delivery or posibly spark? what are the symptoms of a failing fuel pump? how could i check if the coil is good?
lmk what u guys think ima try and make a vid but idk how its gonna turn out my car vibrates alot
 
Im guessing you have a single cam?

My friends did the same thing. he never really fixed it, but I remember removing the EGR helped. when we took it off it was really clogged and nasty.

I think he had fuel injector issues also. GL
 
yeah its a sohc, all the emmisions have been removed for about a month or 2, is ther any way to test the injectors? im thinking its the fuel pump failing but i have no way to test it, at least that i know of
 
could be your fuel pressure regulator is going out happened on my 240 i diconnected it and my shit ran so much better
 
i changed the fuel rail like 2 months ago from a car that had like 120k miles, is there any way to test the fpr?

pull the vaccum line off and it will run max fuel i bumped up the timing a little and drive it like that for a while
 
fuck fuck fuck no skidpad for me, ill try the fpr thing tommorow but what are the signs of a failing fuel pump/injectors? do they just up and quit or is it a slow thing
 
when the injectors get cloged the car will start running like shit and have a lumpy idle. usally one injector gets clogged first, you can check to see which one it is by unpluging them one at a time. the one that doesnt make the car idle worse is the one that is affected. i recomend getting junkyard injectors, cleaning them with carb cleaner, installing new o rings and changing your fuel filter. good luck also dont forget the fuel pump sock replace that
 
i doubt its an injector.. ive had mutiiple injectors go bad on me...
bad injectors just make a noticable loss of power plus ur car will sound like an STi. not really bogging..and yeah injectors usually just stop working.. not really a slow thing.. atleast from my experience

dude it sounds like your fuel pump to me. it gradually starts to go at times its fine but when u get on it or after u get on it,it runs like ass. well dat sound similar to wut happened too me but i have an sr either way could be dat or maybe your sock is jus dirty. check da pump dude......
 
ima take it out today and inspect the pump/sock, i doubt its the injectors, and theres no check engine light

what i did to test the injectors is unbolt the rail but till leave everything connected and hold it (facing away from you) have someone turn it over and gas should spray a mist out of the injectors
if it sprays in a stream or drips out the you know thats your problem

my friend was having an issue like this and we replaced the injectors and it ran fine
 
ya my car started running on 3 cylinders and sounded like an sti with quite a bit of power loss, however it only does it intermittently. i ran skidpad tonight half the time on 3 cylinders and then halfway through it stopped doing it and ran fine all the rest of the night. any ideas on that one???
