I can sum up Christianity in 3 words

i didn't mean any disrepect i only was responding to the statement -"how do you know that gods not up there chillin with buddha and zeus and who ever..." Also, that's basically what "enlightenment" in buddhism is. It's a returning to nature without physical or mental constraints. That separates it from other religions because Buddah was not claiming to be God or that there even was a God. Sort of Agnostic.

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity" Albert Einstein

I'm sure, after years of mis-translations, there's plenty missing making it "incomplete". The bible was written by man. Man is not perfect.

Technically nobody's read the dead sea scrolls. Parts of the scrolls can't even be translated b/c they are missing text while other parts can't be translated b/c nobody knows what the words mean! The dead sea scrolls are the same as the bible though...written by man to interpret or explain certain parts of the bible. It also tells of buried treasures and a guideline to live in the time it was written - the age of the Messiah.

Personally, my faith is with God. I do not "believe" in any religion but I do believe there is a God simply b/c it's too hard for me to imagine all this life just happening from nothing. Maybe it was the years of Catholic school? I'm not so sure Jesus was "the Messiah" either.

oh I know that of course it wont be complete books and manuscripts wear down, become rewritten throughout all the years of its existance (and the rewritten versions never use the exact wording or the same feeling as the original), finding one in its true original form that is capable of being deciphered.translated from its original language is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Also, the God of the Hebrew scriptures, the Greek scriptures, and the Koran is the same God being talked about.

that statement proves that religions borrow concepts from previous religions, not necessarily just beliefs because of course christianity does not have the same beliefs as the greeks did but the fact that it proves that man holds a higher being accountable for everything. I dont doubt it im not a religious person, i dont go to church...not since I was young and in catholic school but I do believe in a god. Just like dori dori stated the universe cannot just be created out of nothing even though science proves otherwise.

i think science might be accurate in some aspects but definetly not the parts where we came from one single tiny thing that eventually became a cell and then there was htis explosion...o yeh well where would this explosion come from or where would the hting that caused the explosion have come from?! or where would the tiny thing before it became a cell would have come from, so i think there is a God, theres has to have been that higher being...if this makes any sense at all cu zim really bad at putting thoughts into words...

+1 ever since I was very young I could never belive that nobody could tamper with the bible, plus that was..... hahaha that story just came on the news lol

Well, that's the point of the dead sea scrolls, they show that almost 2000 years passed and the copied bible was very similar to the fragments (some times many chapters long). They only physically lasted because of the dry dark area that they were stored in.

as for the new testament; When christianity spread, all the books of the bible were not books, they were letters. One of the gospel letters(Luke) was specifically sent to a roman official. Others were to different congregations or other people (not neccesarily christians). These letters were copied and spread among europe and asia. There were thousands of copies. They were never put into book form until hundreds of years later. We dont have any hard copies as old the dead sea scrolls, but copies have been found from few hundred years later. The apostle paul traveled all over making sure all the congregations were acting right and interpreting his words the right way. The bible is but a selection of the writings of christians from that era, HOWEVER, when the books were chosen, the dates written, who wrote them, were they eye wittnesses, were the deciding points, leaving anything after the apostles died out. This separates it from other writings from the time as being special

How do you know if it is altered???

1- Does the bible contradict itself? (investigate it, the worst you can do is waste a few minutes,)
2- Is the bible historically accurate?

*Also, you cannot say you dont believe the bible because of the state of organized religion. Thats like saying you dont believe in peace because no government has been able to provide it. Look at it yourself, the bible was written for common people to read.

i saw something on pbs i think it was about some new archaelogical discovery... actually i don't know where i saw this... THE POINT!

something about finding a missing piece of the bible which reveals that judahs didn't actually betray jesus, they planned that out on purpose that whole incident... jesus wanted to get turned in? i dunno, i 4got what i heard it's supposed to be on the history channel because they paid a sh*t load of money to get the story...

if you ask me (on the bible subject) it being an account of man makes it inaccurate, not to add the varying ways that it could be interpreted... that always depends on what the follower wants to hear.

religion itself is purely man's ideas... i think that's enough reason to doubt it. i just do life my own way, and focus on life around me.. i don't really need to find solice in a mystical idea of the after life, i'll figure that out when i get there.

This is old news. This has been debunked for some time now, I think maybe three to five years or so. It is written in Revelations that in "the end times," there will be an increase in scoffers- people attempting to make people become skeptic of God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit.

Lets put it into perspective it being a web site for car talk. In preparartion of HIS coming

Read the following

Nahum 2:3~4 "the shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in the scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they run like the lightnings." KJV

The chariots are our vehicles/cars and the racing you see today

Read on

Daniel 12:4 " But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, knowledge shall be increased. KJV

It is not the end of the world for it is end time and the Lord's second return is near, make ready your soul, where that vehicle is your idol, place Jesus instead in it's place and all will follow, for everything is HIS anyways and what you have in material is because HE allowed it and what you have in talent was given.
