So I know the rules say "SNELL M95/ S95 or newer", but I wanted to double check and ask if a regular motorcycle helmet is fine? I went to 2 bike shops today looking for a helmet and they are all $80+ but only say DOT. I dont wanna show up on saturday and get turned away for not having a snell helmet....

Do the techs really check the helmet certification??? Im sure some ppl at countyline are running motorcycle/DOT helmets.....or not?

i spent 180 on my helemte ... if u want to drift just buy one .. mine says dot snell approved

helmets are not cheap and they are ruined if you get in an accident and get cracked. snell 95 is snell standards from 1995. you have 15 years of used helmets you could buy.

I agree but the thing is, if one helmet is good enough for a crash on a motorcycle, wouldn't it be good enough for a low speed skidpad? Maybe my logic is wrong lol.
I dont want to cheap out on safety equipment...specially my head. Its been acting up since a confrontation with a faggot ass bouncer.....but I don't want to spend more than I need to either.

And craigslist was the 1st thing I searched. Craigslist ftmfw!
I hope "Snell and DOT approved" is good enough, at least for the time being, I found a killer deal online brand new for the same price as used on craigslist...

no see thats where your wrong.

Motorcylce helmets (M95 etc) are designed the same way as car helmets ( SA etc) with one exception.

Flamability!!

SA helmets are required to be NOT flamable, and are designed for roll bar impacts!!

Heres some info

SA = automobile racing
M = motorcycle
K = Karting

The SA standard requires flammability test while the M and K standards do not.

The SA and K standards allow for a narrower visual field than M standard

The SA and K standards include a rollbar multi impact test while M standard does not

Ive always thought that using a motorcylce helmet was a joke, not because of an accident persay but because a ruptured fuel line or something stupid like that and your head catches fire would be kinda stupid.

Not to mention that if you ever want to do anything BESIDES countyline they DO NOT allow motorcycle helmets, but instead require SA2000 and newer.

↑ Thanks for clearing that up.

thats where i got mine. they have snell m2005 helmets for like ~$90 new

I think I saw that same store while shopping Amazon, but next day air shipping was $60 compared to $3.99 1 day air for the one I got. My main concern was making sure it got here on time for Saturday's event...

You'll be fine at the skid pad. I'm stricter on bigger events. And yes please SA approved thank you
