ok peeps so for the past couple of days i have been looking at boosting my shit box after i get a new motor..hehe... but here is the catch, i have been looking up Super Chargers, thats right SC not Turbo's. i want your imput on what you think, im doing this swap and plan to keep it at the stock boost(7-8psi) that the M62 from the xtiera/frontier. that should put me at about 180-210 at the wheels. which is really all i want just a little bit more power but nothing crazy. there is a kit that comes with all the plates for 1200. but i also need to find the SC and all the other stuff like a new tune (nunook im looking at you!) and some sr 370's injectors. and i think i would/need a oil filter relocation kit + oil cooler. anywho what do you guys think about going SC and also is there anything else that im missing from what i got there? thanks guys

Vince did a Supercharged 240 i went to the Dyno with him car dyno'd around 210 i believe on 8 pounds.. PM him for more info..

mmm i dont know which one is vince unless that is his name here haha thanks for pointing me in the way!!!

sr20? lol seems like a cool prject if u actually pull it off...take alot of pics..and good luck

HAHA SR20 no way this is going to be for the KA... though slideways this might be cool to do on your SR20VE.. i will take pics when i do this though for sure. it should be pretty cool i think. i just got to get all the kinks worked out before i buy it (and see if i have the money too haha)

find a compatible supercharger for a decent price and i would be more than willing to try.

contact vince i got a test drive in that supercharged 240 at speedlab lemme tell you THAT SHIT PULLED LIKE A MUTHAFUCKA

it was a KA... nick let me do some research and i will let you know.. the SC is not to bad... its the plates for the mounting and the pullies that's a little bit of money...i will keep you updated on that part nick

Why do this?
Turbos are much more efficient at producing power than superchargers are.
Turbos are much more responsive. Boost kicks in at much lower RPM than with a supercharger.

If you're doing it to be different. Don't.
Other people want to be different, and because of that want, they usually end up being the same.

Just kidding.

you just made my head spin now i dont know what to think...

um i think that your yanking my crank... but the reason why im going this is to have reliable power, but i really dont think that i need any more than the 200-220 whp that i will get from the SC set up. yes i like to be different. and for the response i was told at rob knight's shop he said that there car they tested it on they had boost at 1400rpm.. not bad i dont think.. well anywho im pretty sure you where joking but this is why i want to SC the shit box! :p

Hahaha I WAS kidding.
I was trying for the turbo vs. supercharger argument, but nothing. GEEZ.
And you're right. Superchargers are much more responsive than turbochargers, although turbochargers are near instant if picked correctly for specific applications.

Actually, superchargers (screw-type...or in this case the kind he's thinking of using) start producing "full boost" at idle. So I don't see how turbos kick in boost quicker.. hmm.. also, no lag with screw-type superchargers =D

..if you were talking about centrifugal type chargers.. like procharger blowers and stuff, you're right. There is lag but it's still less noticeable than a turbo's lag.
I'm not trying to bash or make anyone feel like a moron, I'm just sharing my input - from prior knowledge and experience :bigthumbu

but yeah, turbo all the way (if power is what you're looking for)

and sorry, i just read the part where you said you were kidding :bigthumbu

Full boost at idle. Neat. Explain that one.

Well FWIW - most roots sc's reach peak tq between 2+3k RPM. Considering their efficiency, I still think a small turbo makes more sense.

Boosting at idle, okay. I don't know about FULL boost at idle.

Argh, I just read your reply.

Haha. Nevermind, scratch the above.
