Get better erick. ( rwdrift )

dam ur lucky and good thing to glad to know your ok hope everything goes well and recover quickly with your wrist and all injuries

Thanks guys, I just got home a little while ago. A bunch of people helped me out and I'm very greatful for that.

Here's what happened for the curious:

I had just left Tim's house at night... in Davie... pretty dark and endless straight roads. I had driven my car there during the day but never at night.

Riding my bike, I always followed the whole "look farther ahead" deal, and all I was focusing on were some light poles (all which were aligned, indicating to me a straightaway). Well, I was cruising at 50mph, and I did not see a large roundabout until the headlights lit it up right in front of me. The roundabout is offset to the street, meaning it's large enough to go around, and to the people from Davie.. it's the big roundabout by some school on 136th ave, south of the 595.

The last I remember was trying to lean in and apply just a bit of brakes to try to slow down. I don't recall ever locking the brakes but I knew it wasnt going to be enough. The bike hit the roundabout (it was a curbed roundabout) and the bike flipped. It landed right on the crank case cover and the frame. I was thrown ahead of the bike and basically rolled to the other side of the roundabout.

I was wearing full gear, except gloves, which is where it hit me the most. I'm mainly bruised on one knee where the jeans tore, and around the waist line (the jacket slid up on me). My worst injury is a sprained wrist, where I went to the doctor today to get an x-ray, just to make sure there's no hairline cracks. I should get the results tomorrow.

The bike is gone. Maybe repairable, but at a first glance the repair cost far outweighs the value of the bike itself. I will probably part it and make the best of it. It lasted me 6 months, in which I rode 10,000+ miles and as someone put it "it paid itself in the gas savings".

Right now I still have the vert to drive around, but shifting is really painful. For once I *kinda* wish I had a slushbox.

I'm definetly done with daily driving motorcycles though. I honestly don't think I'm responsible enough. I've always been responsible in traffic, however I know I've had a few close calls in the past, and my two accidents were not traffic related.

In any case... I gotta thank Tim, Dave, Paul, Red, Jimbo, all the guys at his place that helped me out that night, as well as Ralph who hooked it up with a place to get an x-ray pretty cheap and Vince, for taking my ass there when I could barely drive my own car.

Thanks to everyone who called or posted here. It's definetly hurting, but it's not killing me. Tomorrow I get the results from the x-ray confirming if there are any hairline fractures on the wrist.

I'm very lucky to have walked away like this. I cant believe the condition of the bike, which is metal, and compare it to myself, who is composed of flesh and bones, + a jacket and a helmet (and SHOES! lol)
