Formula Drift Rd.1 Long Beach discussion

Why is it that Daigo went with such a unknown tire company? I think things would have been a little different with a bigger name that was already sponsoring FD

I believe he would have won if had Falken, Hankook, or Nitto on his car, but not because the judges would be biased. He made an obvious mistake, and Daijiro Yoshihara stuck to him pretty well. If he had more grip, Daigo would have won for sure. The guy is a beast.

My thoughts on the competition:

1. Both J.Lowe and Chelsea made minor mistakes that cost them big. It's rather unfortunate what transpired but on the flip side they should be commended for what they were able to accomplish. Not only did they place in top 32, they demonstrated that Florida does not fail. Many challenges lie ahead for them, including Pat and Zoltan, so they're going to need our support to help them overcome those obstacles. Be sure to cheer for these guys when you see them out on the track.

2. Leo getting his wish was priceless.

3. I see the prices of 2JZ's going up in the future.

4. I didn't see any questionable decisions made by the judges but I could be wrong as I didn't get to watch the entire competition.

I agree with all of Ben's points.

I think Chelsea, Jlow, and Pat will come back hard. Zoli? Man, he needs to worry about having a functional car over having a TT setup. But I'm sure he learned his lesson.

I can't be happier with Matt Field's car wrecking. I had tears of joy running down my face. Like Ben said, I should make a gif. for it.

Our boys, specifically Jlow, should shine in ATL.

Following a lot of the FD drivers on entry was really tough. They slowed down a lot more than seemed necessary, and it kept screwing me up. I started to get it figured out in practice, and then Tyler half-spun in front of me and I hit him. So I just called it for that practice session, but I probably should've followed some more. Huge learning experience though. Hopefully I'll be more prepared in Atlanta.

Still had an awesome time. This event was definitely the most nerve-racking drifting related thing I've ever done.
