Hey everyone!!
My ex-g/f let me use her Canon EOS today to shoot my car... I've only ever used P&S's so I didn't know how to use it or do much with it... Soo here are some pics I did... If anyone could give me some advice on how to shoot better that would be awesome!!! I really liked using this camera, it was so much better than my little canon 870

Thanks everyone.

I wouldn't of thought you used a DSLR because of the colors in the pictures.
Only picture that I can honestly say I liked was the taillight/tag shot.

I'm guessing there's a way I can change the exposure on the camera? Maybe i should ask her for the manual too.... ha ha Like I said I've never used a camera like this before.

Just keep shooting. Learn what shutter speed/aperture/iso all do and when you change one what the others will do. Get lightroom3 beta from adobe's website, its free. It will help make your pictures pop.

Your composition will be handled in the next session.

Sweet. I'll download that today. I got her camera again for the day, so I'm going to try and play with the exposure settings and see what works... It's another nice overcast day in St. Augy so it will be great for shooting.

I'll post up more pix that I take later tonight.

Thanks so much for the advice and help guys!

For a little while shoot in P mode. Let the camera choose what the shutter speed and aperture are, set your iso to 100. Pay attention to what your camera is doing. If your shooting in P mode and she never changed the exposure it should be set to 0. Sometimes you might want to shoot underexposed to keep the dark clouds but then in lightroom you'll need to use the adjustment brush and adjust your subject back to a proper exposure but keeping your dark sky.

yeah it was raining....

I got lightroom3 beta... I'm messing around with stuff in it. Prettty interesting program as I've never worked with a photoshop program before.

Yea Way Under Exposed.

Plus Looked Like A Shitty Day To Be Shooting...

Shooting on days right before it rains or right after can produce great results. I know of one photog in cali that's the ONLY time he tries to shoot. Of course he has extra lighting so his pictures turn out really good and he's been doing this for awhile.

I honestly use that more than I use photoshop. I really only need pshop when I'm doing model work or weddings. For batch editing its awesome because you can edit one shot and then copy and paste all of the changes to the other shots. I also used it to make my website. Might not be anything crazy but people never know that.

Here are some things I worked on while playing with lightroom. before and after shots. I think I like the lambo one best. I took the most time on that one.

I'd hold off on using the adjustment brush right now. Just worry about getting even exposure across the whole shot. Your first one looks photoshopped in there because the difference is so great. Dont' be afraid to let the computer do what it thinks is best. I actually use auto first and if its not how I like it I'll tweek it a bit more to my liking.

Hey guys here are some new pictures I took last night... I tried playing with different AB, iso, shutter speed, and w/b settings.. I'm still not sure how to change the exposure.... I don't know if that's the AB or not. I don't have a manual and haven't been able to find one online... i haven't had much time to search for one though.

Let me know how these look to you guys!!
This guy flew over when I was shooting... Didn't have the time to put the telescopic lense on until he was too far away...
