Finished swap, minor (?) problems...

So.. I just finished swapping a dual cam into my coupe..

It starts but won't idle and dies off in about 6-7 seconds after start unless I stay on the throttle; I think it has A LOT to do with not connecting many types of those tiny vacuum hoses. The engine I bought had the EGR deleted, so I'm not sure what connects to where.. especially since I'm switching over from a single-cam. I'm also pretty sure I won't be needing a lot of that emissions stuff [like the big black box by the ignition coil].....

I got electrical and fuel down, but am at a loss for the vacc stuff.

Some help/suggestions/point in the right direction would be appreciated.:bigthumbu

im not sure either. just check the vacuum lines. i remember i had the same problem and it was the EGR hose not even there. i have a few holes in my intake piping also at the bottom. i had to cover those also. if its not the problem im sorry i cant help :\

if the emissions are deleted thers only 3 active vacuum ports, fuel pressure regulator, brake booster, and iacv, all others should be blocked
go to ka-t.org good write ups on there

Thanks, searched and searched, ended up being the FPR

and that valve thing behind the block as well [IACV??].. Couldn't find a proper diagram though.

It runs. :woot:

^ I had to change the ignition coil plug and the dash harness plug on the engine harness, that is all... Also changed the cluster for a dohc one, and it isn't working. p.o.s. [minor setbacks ftl]

But yeah, turning on for a while and back off again. hahahaha.. going to put the exhaust on and then take my time with it..

maybe ill take a look at mine too. its hard to see where all the hoses connect to. i ghetto rigged mine :\

the EGR hose is routed to the TB side and both holes on the intake side are taped off along with the hole on the bottom.

if i still have issues with it ill take my time and route everything properly. and if it still idles bad ill just check into what youre talking about

Its back to the drawing board.. I can't get it to idle, throttle or anything..

I tried putting the little bracket on the back of the block, plugging in all the stems and plugging the harness to it.. It ran for a little longer, but still the same crappp. Should be something simple since it turns on for like 3 seconds now.... aghhh need to kill tires!!

Also, its an S13 KA
