FD Round 5 - Florida Qualifying Results

With the RX-Gate controversy in everyones mind, all eyes were on Chelsea Denofa to see how well could he adjust to an entirely different platform. How did he do?

Well first lets talk about how the other Florida drivers did at qualifying. Patrick Goodin was looking to vindicate himself from missing out on the Top 32 competition in the last two rounds. His first run began well until he tapped the wall going into the infield but it wasn't enough to throw him off as he forged ahead to complete his run and scored a 66. In his second run he managed to best his original score even though Pat fell towards the middle of the bank during the first turn. He ended the day with a score of 77.

Jeremy Lowe in his usual aggressive self tapped the wall going into the entry, somehow keeps it together, but ends up spinning as he went into the infield. It was do or die for Jeremy in his second run and he didn't hold back as he again went aggressive into the entry. This time he created too much angle to be able to carry it through and had no choice but to fall towards the middle of the bank. Unlike the first run, he didn't spin and managed to receive a score of 71!

So how did Chelsea do? Initial impressions showed Chelsea to be one of the fastest drivers out there. Aside from a couple minor corrections, he transferred his driving style quite well to the new platform and scored a 78 in his first run. Going into the second run Chelsea went mad as he rode the wall in the entry and as he was switching back in the infield, created too much angle for him to recover from and straightened out. With the all audio issues the Driftstream was experiencing throughout the day, I could not hear the score for his second run.

Although not official at the time of this writing, it looks like all three Florida drivers made it to the Top 32 competition. Once I get confirmation I'll be sure to update this post.

Update: It's official, all three made it to tomorrows competition.

25. C. Denofa
26. P. Goodin
31. J. Lowe

I skidded along the big wall twice in my first run. Only once in my second run.

Walker destroyed my rear bumper when it fell off in night practice. Kinda bummed.

I go against Aasbo in top 32 tomorrow. Hahahaha.

Good luck to Jeremy, Pat and Chelsea. This looks to be the toughest round yet since everyone is looking very competitive. Daigo looks to be struggling at this venue. Taka actually has a chance to make it to the Top 16 today, so I'm gonna be stoked to see how he is going to do.

I guess the drivers of those cars couldn't afford to keep running the series. It wasn't like those guys had cars given to them by Megan Racing. They built their own cars, and Megan sponsored them.
