well i dont know if its a record but it took me 57 mins to remove my motor and trans on the ground using all hand tools and romove the tranny and starter from the motor. all i hafta say is CHRIS FTMFWN!!!!!

it is very possiblr shit when im at my dads shop and im in a good mood ive done it faster than that but when im lazy takes me about 20-25 min of course i gots lifts and ive donr like 15 different 240's shoot swapin the clutch is a breeze to me now i use to hate the tranny removal but i got it down pat :bigthumbu

I only go under the car for the Tranny mount and Engine mounts.

The ~25 min time was on a car that was being stripped so cautioon and care wasnt a big concern either. It was being striped for paint and such...
 
me manny and dan got dans single cam out prety quick, hand tools and no lift, it was probably some where in the 20 min mark
 
57 with hand tools and no lift??? one question. i've been wondering how you could remove an engine with no lift. i was told you just place a jack under the oil pan, raise the engine jst a lil' bit to be able to remove mounts and raise the car and the motor will be left on the jack. is this correct. :confused:

no, because the subframe, steering rack, sway bars, and probably a few other main suspension components would be in the way, and if you removed those then probably the engine wouldnt balance upright and come out crooked and not fit through the bay or something stupid.

They do drop the engine down on some cars like Porsche 911's and Boxsters and wierd shit like that, but typically most front engine cars will have their engines removed up from the top like 100% of the time.

no no, no vehical lift. You still use an engine hoist to get it and out.........

Dan and I have done a throw out bearing and had the car driving on the street 5 hours later...(pulled the engine, didnt feel like fussing under the car on our backs while trying to bench press the transmission.) no air tools no lift.......

plus i gots to do it again tomorrow. damn sr;s.

also i seen a vid floating around of a 180sx assembly line and they install engine/tranny/driveshaft/subframe all as an assembly from the botom. takes like 2min. ha. airtools ftmfw.

yea but i was in my friends moms carpet shop and those usally dont have a lift or air tools
