Drifting ...Jeeze...!

I am not saying its not fun...I am not that old(33) but I remember driving my VW bug(with dual webers and a stinger baby!) around corners REALLY fast just to get the rear to slide. OOOHHHH did I love it when it would rain(with only like 80 HP I needed all the help I can get) turning left from 6th ave onto 163rd....Duuooop.....Duuoop.....slide slide baby..the feeling of getting it just right was amazing(kind of like flooring it in second on an R1 and doing a sweet pwr wheely). I Then got a "slang 6 " nova and would again wait for the rain. After that it was a Datsun B210(remember those) with those skinny 70 series tires it was a bit hairy to slide it but it would slide very nicely. Then came my 320i. All very fun. I went to college and bought me a 4 door GSR(FWD yuk!) till I got my current job. Then I sold it and drove the company van. How many old timers are out here? You remember sliding your car(Iroc's TA's) around corners and haveing people look at you like you where an idiot? I can't imagine if I would have kept up with it. All those years of pratice man I would have gone pro(LOL with 2 kids) Just wondering if some of you cats remember sliding before it was even cool. :D

i was sliding an 75 MB 240d in 94 an 87 325 in 95 an F350 dually crewcab in 97 and so on.

i have been drifting for a few months now.

the story of Many Many Many people, although its hard to collect 30 people across the state of florida to attend an event.

go to an event, then you can say you can drift.......... you might even get a picture of you "drifting".

you dont have to rag on people who dont go to events. I for one have seen lateral motion drift. Also, i have seen him at DD trying to hook up with other people for some drifting. Did you drift before you attended your first event?

I dont get it....so you have to go to an event to be able to enjoy drifting? Or maybe call yourself a drifter? Many people where "sliding" their cars long before "drifting" even became cool. What ever happened to going to a newly paved blacktop mall parking lot on a Sunday night after a nice rain and just slideing around while you blast some tunes on your stereo? I remember when that was fun. Still is if you ask me. I dont care how many events I see on Speed channel, movies or in magazines. The guys who have been doing this sooo long will keep doing it for a long time to come regardless of how cool it has become or how many events they go/or attend. I did not wanna start a conflict I just wanted to see how many "old timers" where out there and what they would slide back in the day. Ahh well. Keep off the streets guys and keep the shiny side up ;)
Peace X
