details.png

This event will be two days long and consist of up to 25 teams. Each team is to consist of 1-2 drivers.

Driver one will participate in the time attack on Day 1 (Saturday). This driver may use any 4-wheeled, DOT approved vehicle he/she chooses. FWD, RWD and AWD are all approved for Day 1 competition.

On Day 2 (Sunday), Driver two will participate in the drift competition. This driver is limited to a RWD vehicle only.

If one driver who is participating in a RWD would like to particpate in both days/competitions, he/she may do so. Keep in mind this driver will still have to cover the cost of a full team; $120.

Teammates may also share a vehicle for both comps as long as that vehicle is RWD.

If either Time Attack driver or Drift driver does not have a partner, he/she will be paired with one.

scoring.png
:
Let’s say Driver One’s fastest run of the day was a 36.7 sec. That number will be subtracted from 100 giving you a total score of 63.3. So, the faster you go, the lower your time which, in turn, adds up to a higher score number; the lower your time, the higher your score.

Now Driver Two scores an 85 in the drift comp.
We combined Driver One’s (63.3) and Driver Two’s (85) scores = 148.3 (Total Team Score)
Your total team score is then compared to the other teams at which point we will determine a winning team; the highest score wins.

format.png

Time Attack: brought to you by Cool Cat Racing
T/A will be a timed competition similar to an autocross.
Course will consist of corners 1,2,3,4 & 5 and in that order (turn 6 will not be incorporated).
Each run group will be allotted a one hour practice session. During that practice session, only two vehicles will be allowed on track at one time.
During the actual competition, each vehicle is to take two (2) timed laps per run. This will be calculated by how many times you cross the start finish line. An since the driver will be starting from turn one, which is just after the start/finish line, he/she will cross the start/finish line a total of 3 times. After crossing the start/finish the third time you are to immediately slow down and pull into the paddock (outside of turn 1).

Drift:
The Drift Competition will be run clockwise starting from turn 1. Turns 5,4 and 3 will be judged.

Judging for Drift Comp
Due to the fact that this competition is based on a team score, we will not be running a bracket-style competition. Instead, we will be operating this much like a typical practice. During the judging, each driver will run the set course 5 times during his/her session. Each of those 3 runs will be judged in which your highest score will be kept. In short, this will give everyone the same amount of runs/chances to better their score throughout the day. At the end of the day, the driver's highest score from ALL of his/her runs will be combined to their teammates score.

Judging Categories:

Line 0 - 30 pts
The driver must stay on the correct path on the course. Straying too far from the race line will result in points being deducted from this sector. How far the drivers are off from the inner and outer clipping zones. Anything more that an foot away from the zones points will be deducted. Hitting the clipping zones too early or too late will loose points also.

Speed 0 - 30 pts
How hard and fast the drivers attack the course will affect their points in this category. Drivers must optimize and maintain their speed as they enter and exit corners as they make their way through the course.

Angle 0 – 30 pts
Drivers should be holding the optimal angle at which a driver can maintain and control the vehicle throughout the course of the run. The angle of the vehicle will be judged as they enter and exit the corners. If a vehicle loses its drift during the run points will be deducted. If the lost of drift is major, it will count as a spin and the driver will receive 0 points for the run.

Impact 0 – 10+ pts
Impact is the category in which drivers may gain points. This would depend on how much they impress the judges and audience with the display of their skill and car control. For example, if a driver performs a 90 point run and the entry was very impressive, extra points will be added to the total score depending on the judge.

passengers.png

A passenger is defined, as any participant possessing the proper wristband or credential, riding in a moving vehicle while on track, yet is not in physical control of that vehicle. USD and NASA Instructors are not considered passengers for the purpose of this section. All passengers must be at least 18 years old. Minors that are participants in the event should not be a passenger, unless riding with an instructor, for the purposes of instruction.

* Passengers must use the same safety equipment and attire as required of the driver.
* Passengers should not be allowed in vehicles where they are sitting near or below obstructions (i.e. “Petty barâ€) that may pin, trap them, or cause other possible harm.
* Passengers are not allowed to possess a camera at any given time, in any car, unless an Instructor is driving.
* Passengers should not commit any action as to cause interference or distraction of the driver or any other drivers.
* Passengers should keep their arms and hands inside the vehicle at all times.
* Passengers are not permitted to place any part of their bodies, such as their hands, in any area that is between any roll bar/cage tubing and the body panels of the interior. Doing so may result in crushed limbs. Enforcement of this rule is the responsibility of the driver.
* Passengers are not allowed in open-top cars that do not provide adequate roll bar protection for the passenger side of the car (i.e. an original Shelby Cobra).

hey I'm really interested, pm me your number.

Well... I was asking those who already had the trailer lol

Sean doesnt have the truck anymore, and I'm pretty sure the trailer is Harri's.

+1 for the event layout. Very original. I hope these would happen more often, and more down south. Maybe even a hook-up with SCCA?

Thank you. It was an idea that just popped in my head.
This event is getting great feedback, so there is a very good chance we'll be doing more of them. However, our problem does lie with venues. We are researching several in Fla but it seemingly a slow process.

The structure and format of this event is getting a lot of praise, however, few are registering. At this rate, if we don't receive at least 10 more teams by Tuesday (March 20th), we will have no choice but to cancel this event.

In order to prevent that from happening, we are willing to accept down payments which hold your/your team's spot.
If you would like to hold your or your teams spot, please send 50% of your preferred payment (see original post for price break down) to eventpayments@drift411.com.
The remaining balance will be due Thursday March 22nd at midnight

If it wasnt for a 600 mile trip, with a quick break to massively abuse my car and have to drive back, I'd do it.

South Florida sucks for geographical location.

I certainly don't blame you.
We are working on a few venues in Fla, so perhaps we'll make it easier for you guys in the near future. If nothing else, we would like to give you guys the chance to compete in a ProAm Series "floater".

werd, Juan and I would open up shop in both categories (coupe domination)

I wouldn't bother bro. There's a 80% chance this thing is going to get cancelled

I do have good news though.... Drift411 is bringing our ProAm series to south Fla later this year.
