Desoto Speedway - Bradenton - Events?

Jen

Driver
I called down to Desoto Speedway in Bradenton FL, to ask about renting out the track for my own personal use to get some much needed practice. They got very excited about the drifting concept and they asked why no one had contacted them about hosting an event. So, they are very interested.

They guy would like for someone to come down and show him what drifting is - a private demo. Any volunteers?

And, he would also like to know #'s of drivers #'s of specators that usually come to these events.

He even said he would have someone do a demo for an upcoming stock car event on June 30 - their biggest of the year (1500 spectators) - during intermission or something - but, I told him we probably couldn't get anything together that soon? Thoughts?

I'm pretty new here and to drifting, so if anyone would like to help me...this could turn out to be nice place here on the west coast.

Feel free to PM or IM me. Any advice, help or comments would be most appreciated.

Oh, yeah... I forgot to mention. I went down there last night to check out the track and meet with the owner/manager. The track looked okay... not great... but, not too bad. I didn't feel it was any worse than Orlando. One good thing is that it was a large figure 8 section in the middle. I think it would be good for beginners.

If I can get someone with alot of experience to do a private demo for the owner.. we could also verify that the track is decent for our purpose.

Offer? A track for events. Maybe even a regular monthly one... if I do this right.

I'm sure he would charge about what they do at other events.

sigh........... so many events...so little time .....and money.florida is turning into a drift event having whore !

You let me drive your car and I'll do a demo for them.

A friend of mine races karts there and he said the surface isn't that bad. The transition down into the infield looks nice.

Still need information from you all - So, if I have to give this guy at the track some numbers of participants to expect..... I notice that at other events there is a cap at 30 or 40 cars. Do that many usually show up for events? How many spectators.... ballpark?

No takers for a demo?

it all depends lately about other events. june and july seem like busy months this year. i'd go its only an hour away from me but with a 30 driver cap would be the best bet. spectator wise i dont know just depends how many people are close all my friends in lee and collier would probably come. i could get most people from fortmyersracing.net to come its hard to get an accurate figure it would be anywhere from 20-100+ peole i dont know.

Most drivers/cars would show up for events, unless something happens the night before. There have been a good amount of spectators for events lately down here (even on downpour rainy days). I'm sure people around that area would love some free track time. I did a demo down here and the owners loved it. You just can't have too many cars for the demo and people who have at least decent experiance drifting. So the track owners will see the more advance drivers.

I could drive your Z for the demo, just ask around I have around 4-5 years of experience, plus you have an excellent car. Currently Im out of a car. I have driven many peoples cars at oval events and not one incident.

actually i wouldn't mind doing a little private demo. as long as we get a few other drivers i got 8 tires to waste:)

how are the walls there? compared to osw and port charlotte any more or less dangerous? i'll tear up that figure 8 there right away but with a cicle track i'd be cautious for a bit before i got into it.

josh should jump on this. and noah. and david a
