D1 WORLDWIDE ENTERTAINMENT DELAYS U.S. EVENTS TO 2011 SEASON

D1Burbank, CA – 7/28/2010– D1 Worldwide Entertainment, (www.d1gp.com), the official organizers of automotive entertainment’s premier drifting events in the United States announced today the 2010 USA D1 Grand Prix event line-up will be delayed to the 2011 Season.

D1 Corporation, Japan initiated conversations with American organizers last week to discuss the U.S. events and their late season start. It was determined that potentially the quality of the events would be compromised and therefore the D1 brand would be better served by pushing the organization of these events into the to-be-determined 2011 D1 Grand Prix season.

The 2010 D1 Grand Prix on SPEED™ will run as scheduled for its premiere on September 4, 2010 at 6:00PM Eastern Standard Time. The television series will now focus on the eight D1 2010 Grand Prix events emanating from Japan which include multiple North American drifting drivers competing head to head with the greatest drifters in the world. The premiere episode will include U.S. favorites Samuel Hubinette, Mike Pollard and Forrest Wang. Additionally, viewers will find Fox Sport Net running repeats of the 10 episodes; dates and times to be announced.

Told you this shit wasn't going to happen

Told you so.

Seriously, don't support these "D1" guys or any of their attempts at swindling the industry. Now they've done even more damage behind the scenes as far as getting sponsors/cashflow into the sport of drifting, which as much as you people don't realize, does trickle all the way down to grassroots events.

Wouldn't it be nice to call up ANY venue and setup a drift event, and have companies wanting to sponsor it so the entry fees were stupid cheap?

Yeah, D1GP 2010 just put another hurdle for you to overcome, go them.

I didn't doubt that it was going to not happen, I said that whole rant about D1 vs. Formula D was super biased.

There just mad cuz most of their drivers from japan were drifting since they were in diapers n here the americans come take a couple corners n there just as good as them

Truth in point is that here in the United States is that we have a better marketing and business structure to run our events. Their pride is getting in the way of them making a good business decision.
